This is a Good Movie! I loved it from start to finish. The Actors all did a great job in introducing us to the beginning of each of our beloved Star Trek charactors.
Action from start to finish. Anyone would like this movie.
Was a little curious about the involvement of Spock and Uhura, and how the destruction of Vulcan, along with how Lenord Nemoy will play out, but I hope that will be explained in the next movie. Great Movie.

As a life-long Trekkie, I went into this movie EXTREMELY skeptical. But this movie was awesome. It draws you in right away with the opening sequence, and from there, it just gets better.

First half well done, the Kirk meet the old Spock to the end pushed things a bit. The young Spock meets the old Spock at the end should not have happened. Because it did, all the brave actions of Spock in past Star Treks we can now minimize as he already knew he was not going to die, for had already met himself as on old man.

I found the new Star Trek movie a great addition to the franchise. Lots of action, plot twists and just enough humor to keep things moving along. The only things I didn't care for were the changes in the engine room configuration (where is the warp drive?) and the command deck (looked like something out of Stargate SG-1 with all the transparent vertical display panels). Most of the actors played their roles believably, though the future with no planet Vulcan is not the universe we know and love.

This film proves that a long-running series like Star Trek can be modernized with new back stories and excellent technology to draw a new generation to the classic characters. The story and the characters are well developed with interesting twists for my kids to enjoy and embrace while paying homage to the original in ways that original Trekkies can appreciate.

Overall an excellent film, I felt the casting of Spock and McCoy were the highlight of an overall good group. The plot was at times thin although altering the timeline to reflect some of the subtle differences we will see in later films was a good use of the idea.
I did feel the musical score could have been better. The trailer score was more fitting than most of the music within the film.
I also wasn't too impressed with the "monster" scenes. It really didn't seem to fit.

I commend Abrams for an even hand througout, delivering action, humor, and human interest with equal aplomb. Neither a parody nor a clone, this movie manages to refresh the legend while renewing it. The cast manages to make their own statement while including nonobsequious nods and nuances tying them to the tradition. I can't think of anything about this movie I didn't like. While I have a deep love of the old cast I have not felt closer to the characters since the end of the original series. We have the real essence of the characters in shiny new boxes, bringing us home comfortably once again with the Kirk, Spock and others we know and love so well. A fast-paced visual feast, this is truer to the old series than any other Trek movie.

Entertaining. Action packed. Well edited. Good special effects. Just wish movies like this would stop for a moment to allow the viewer to breathe, to think, to take everything in. I took my children. Okay for children twelve and above, although there is a bedroom scene and some curse words. Not alright for young children; there are some very scary scenes and inappropriate moments as I mentioned above. For adults, however, very entertaining.

Star Trek blew me away. I was one of the 97% of audience members who applauded at the end of the movie. Best movie I've seen since The Lord of The Rings movies.
To anyone not familiar with the original Star Trek TV series, this movie still totally stands alone and rocks. To anyone who grew up with the original Star Trek TV series (here, here) or is just plain a fan anyway, the movie really did an outstanding job to touch on each of the main crew member's "personality traits/quirks" and even managed to add a bit more dimension to each of the them in ways some fans may have always wished for and finally got to see.
Just a real gem... errr... ummm... Jim!

The new Star Trek movie exceeded my expectations in every category. The movie follows a character based story line, but the special effects are great and it is extremely fast paced. The time flew by. I think whoever came up with the story line is a genius. It opens up a whole new world for the characters from the original tv show. They can take this story line in any direction they want with very few constraints. Absolutely a marketing goldmine. This movie breathes new life into the original series.

Fantastic cast: Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are both brilliant. And Simon Pegg and the other core characters were dead-on with their interpretations of the originals. Eric Bana ranks among the most disturbing of villains. I welled up both at the beginning and the end...just found it very moving, like seeing old friends who've been away for a long, long time. My only (slight) disappointment was the reliance on time travel to explain the plot...not that it wasn't great seeing the older Spock. May the new cast and new series live long and prosper!

As an old Trekker, I'm disappointed that this didn't contain the Trek tradition of building its theme around dealing with a "social issue"; Instead, this was a raucous swashbuckling-in-space film, and a thoroughly entertaining ride. The casting was superb, the writing very witty. And, the re-imagining/updating of the Trek universe was most welcome; I look forward to more, and will definitely go and see this one again! A great romp!

From the cocky confidence of the rebelious Kirk, the cantanerous grumbling of Bones and inner struggle of being half human in Spock...the characters were nailed. Sexy Uhura and zany Scotty included. Great and completely plausable time warp angle and a suprise romance. Add those factors to some spectacular effects and this one outpaces all othe other Trek flicks to date. If you are worried about the PG 13 rating for the kids...then don't take the kids to the beach.

J.J. Abramms and Co. has finally disassociated the name "Star Trek" from "Second Rate". For a Star Trek movie this one is second to none and just an all around blast to watch. It blends the characters and themes of the old with modern special effects and CGI of the present day and the result is a Star Trek fan left in an "Alternate Reality" of pure enjoyment! (P.S.- Star Trek geeks: there will be no "correcting" the changes made by Nero, just moving forward into a new future!)

I have seen all of the Star Trek movies. I watched the original series when it started. I have seen some of the spin-offs. I was interested to see how this pre-prequel would be done.
I was extremely impressed with how the movie dealt with the inevitable conflicts with making a new movie when there was a settled story line. Having this movie take place in an altered reality was very smart. It basically sets the stage for an entirely new series without disrespecting the original concept.
The movie also reached out to a new demographic without alienating those who have been around since the beginning.
I hope this is the start of a new ongoing Star Trek adventure.

This was a great movie! I attended with two die hard Trekkers and they both agreed that even though there were a few tiny flaws, overall the movie was excellent.
I especially liked the tribble and, of course, Spock.
It was one of the few movies that I was sad to see end.

I've seen one or two episodes of one of the Star Trek series but don't know any of the trivia, etc. This movie was still awesome! The graphics were stunning and the action was right on target. The character interactions were brilliant. I'll be getting this on blu ray when it comes out.
