This movie was cute, and the special effects were nice, but it simply wasn't as entertaining as the first. The kids in the theater all seemed more restless and less captivated than during the first movie, but overall, they were entertained. As a parent, I found it an absolute bore.
The special effects in this movie are crazy good. The storyline is solid and engaging, and the action is riveting. I agree with another reviewer that the movie was a bit dark, but I guess that's to be expected with a post-apocalyptic war movie. Good acting too. Love the references to T1 & T2.
As a life-long Trekkie, I went into this movie EXTREMELY skeptical. But this movie was awesome. It draws you in right away with the opening sequence, and from there, it just gets better.
Friday the 13th (1980) is one of my favorite horror movies ever. So I was skeptical about this film. But it starts with a bang, and by the time the title appeared on screen I was SO hooked! In homage to the early Friday the 13th films, we see the typical teenaged shenanigans, but the characters are well-developed and well-acted. The actors were easy on the eyes too, like Jared Padalecki. The movie doesn't rely on lots of gross-out tactics and gore (a la SAW and HOSTEL); it's suspenseful and startling. It was nice to see Jason use a variety of killing methods and to see him run and move like a human as opposed to the slow, zombie-like, magically-appearing Jason in the latter sequels of the '80s franchise.
