J.J. Abramms and Co. has finally disassociated the name "Star Trek" from "Second Rate". For a Star Trek movie this one is second to none and just an all around blast to watch. It blends the characters and themes of the old with modern special effects and CGI of the present day and the result is a Star Trek fan left in an "Alternate Reality" of pure enjoyment! (P.S.- Star Trek geeks: there will be no "correcting" the changes made by Nero, just moving forward into a new future!)
Yes, I recommend this movie.
