I have seen all of the Star Trek movies. I watched the original series when it started. I have seen some of the spin-offs. I was interested to see how this pre-prequel would be done.
I was extremely impressed with how the movie dealt with the inevitable conflicts with making a new movie when there was a settled story line. Having this movie take place in an altered reality was very smart. It basically sets the stage for an entirely new series without disrespecting the original concept.
The movie also reached out to a new demographic without alienating those who have been around since the beginning.
I hope this is the start of a new ongoing Star Trek adventure.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
