This movie was different from TP other movies. It was very touching. It made me cry, laugh, and cheer. I am recommending this movie to family, friends, as well as coworkers.
The only complaint is that it was only playing in 4 theatres in all of Southern California

Where do I start? Intriguing, sad, heartbreaking, hilarious at times, just overall a good change from the typical drama or comedy. Chronicles the effects of abuse on a young lady. Book was much more detailed, but movie did good job of taking storyline and adding humor at just the right time. Only complaint is that it's not in more theaters. Only 5 theaters in all of metro Atlanta had it, which was a problem for many.

An absolutely brutal film that allows you to catch your breath with well timed humor that seems to come at the exact moment you think you won't be able to make it any longer. Mo'Nique deserves an Oscar for her performance. I highly recommend seeing this in a smaller theater. The crowd I saw it with sapped some of the film's power with inappropriate responses at pivotal moments.

As a Professional Social Worker, I awaited the performance by Mariah Carey who portrays a social worker in the film. From the very beginning I was on the edge of my seat.
This young lady playing Precious, she is going places, and if anyone thought she was just average, she is way more than that! My hat is off to her.
Thanks Oprah and TP for bringing life to a situation that remains in the shadows’ of abuse. I think this will cause more women to confront the Precious’ in their lives.
It's excellent, don't sleep on seeing this in the theaters.

This movie comes highly recommended to mothers and daughters of all ages. We all need to share this experience. The executives of the movie did pretty good in including major points of the book; however, I wish they would have explained a few things a little more depth because those who had not read the book were a bit confused at times. Other than that, the movie was great. Thanks Oprah and Tyler. I can't wait for the next one!

I enjoyed more of the details of such an interesting take on the life of a child from an abusive and dysfunctional family in the book which I read. That being said, the movie had amazing acting and directing and a good mix of the seriousness of the storyline and times for laughter. Overall I enjoyed this movie and whether or not you read the book, I 100% recommend going to see this movie.

This movie was beyond deep. The topics explored in this movie were very hard to hear, see, and feel at times. Although everyone in this movie did an excellent job, Monique was awesome and she deserves an award for such a performance. It was refreshing to see a different side of her away from comedy. She came very raw and real. Her performance was so emotional that she made you sit there and stare in disbelief that such a monster of a mother could actually exist. This movie brings the issue of mental illness to the light and shows how it can infect the many generations to follow. My hats off to the author of the book, the director that brought this story to life on the screen, and the entire cast.

While I acknowledge that the acting in this film was phenomenal, I felt as though I was being forced to sit and watch and wait for this movie to take me away the way that GREAT movies usually do. While the storyline was one of great interest, I feel as though there was a missing ingredient in this film. In my opinion it was borderline BORING. The story line has so much potential, but simply falls short. The movie trailer really sold the film but in reality it's an hour and 49 minutes of one calamity after another with little else. Then it kind of just ends, mercifully, with no true resolution. People in the theater applauded at the end and all I could think was: Are they serious?

I remember being moved by the novel Push when I read it in high school. I was shaken by the fact that the author chose to close with out a happy ending. The movie is just as touching as the book. Some scenes are harder to stomach then others. Mo'Nique was phenomenal! I actually got a chance to check out Precious on it's opening night and I am soo happy that I got a chance to see such a great movie. The acting was great as well as the story line... I love the message and the fact that it was based on common people in situations that seem to be overlooked in out world. I am also glad that I purchased my tickets online because it was sold out and I didn't realize that it would be such a big success with little to no advertising.

The actors were phenomenal, and they deserve an academy for the acting. However, this movie did an excellent job advancing negative stereotypes of the African American community which society seems to continue to appreciate.
While this matter is a real and sensitive issue which lies in all communities, it was just an off-color movie that was extremely depressing, and I would not recommend it.
I hope we as African Americans can start to promote the good in our community that is never discussed or brought forth as a topic of discussion for a broader audience.

The movie was riveting, unnerving and extraordinarily sculpted to make one believe that you were actually witnessing the tragic childhood that this young lady had endured. I left there feeling compelled to reach out to all the Precious's of the world and mentally exhausted with a lot more emotion than I had anticipated. I will definitely have to go and see this again just to make sure that I did not miss anything between wiping away the tears.

I did not read the book but I must say this was the type of movie that made you cry and at times made you want to go find the predators and slap the heck out of them. My heart goes out to all the victims who have had to overcome this type of abuse. Wow! This is an extraordinary movie with a phenomenal cast. Where did they find Gabourey Sidibe, who, in the title role, portrays her oppressed character so convincingly? Mo'Nique as the abusive mother, Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey as concerned professionals also give superb performances. This film is so authentic, at times it reads as a documentary. I loved this movie. As a social worker in an urban inner city community, sadly I see these issues everyday. This movie had to get out for all of the Precious children, female and male, everywhere. The movie was wonderful at bringing out all of the psychosocial-cultural issues that Precious had to deal with. Also, it should put a fire under all of us to lend a helping hand to someone, no matter what they look like or their socioeconomic status is.

Very interesting and artistic story telling. The movie was both emotional and sad at times, heartbreaking and funny. Provided an inside view of how some people actually live and while living under abusive conditions, people can overcome.

We have Mariah Carey to thank for bringing this movie forth, then inviting Tyler Perry and Oprah to come on board. Very seldom do we really get to see realistic and honest stories about African American females' lives. When Black girls are featured in films, they are often turned into stereotypical beings, i.e., angry gum-smacking, neck jerking Saphire or hoochie, and the story is told from a subjective prospective -- others telling the viewer who Black women are and how they all think & behave. This is one girl's story, told by an African American female, which represents her view of the world (instead of visa versa) and it is a powerful, human/universal expression. Well done.

Precious was very accurate depiction of the novel "Push". Monique really did an excellent job stepping out of her comedic comfort zone portraying an abusive parent dealing with her own demons. This movie topic is extremely sensitive and not suitable for very young children. Its very thought provoking and would be very effective opening the discussion about abuse. I will definitely put this movie in my personal library.

This movie was really good. I f I had seen it first without reading the book I would have gave it five stars. Please go out and get the book even if you've seen the movie, it covers all the details about the mothers molestation. Overall I would recommend that everyone see this movie. It wakes you up and lets you know that there are millions of people going through this. It makes you thankful for the life you have. Monique really deserves an oscar for her performance. Mariah even shocked me with how good her acting was.
