This movie was beyond deep. The topics explored in this movie were very hard to hear, see, and feel at times. Although everyone in this movie did an excellent job, Monique was awesome and she deserves an award for such a performance. It was refreshing to see a different side of her away from comedy. She came very raw and real. Her performance was so emotional that she made you sit there and stare in disbelief that such a monster of a mother could actually exist. This movie brings the issue of mental illness to the light and shows how it can infect the many generations to follow. My hats off to the author of the book, the director that brought this story to life on the screen, and the entire cast.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
