The actors were phenomenal, and they deserve an academy for the acting. However, this movie did an excellent job advancing negative stereotypes of the African American community which society seems to continue to appreciate.
While this matter is a real and sensitive issue which lies in all communities, it was just an off-color movie that was extremely depressing, and I would not recommend it.
I hope we as African Americans can start to promote the good in our community that is never discussed or brought forth as a topic of discussion for a broader audience.
