Two of my friends had seen this before I did . A ad they both gave it outstanding reviews. I never have cared much for movie critics and the like as I prefer to form my own opinion. The movie can get a bad review but as long as I enjoy it and am entertained, that's all that matters. So went to see The Dark Knight yesterday and came out agreeing with my friends and everyone else. One of the best movies ever made. 6 stars out of 5 in my rating system.

The movie was great for the guys from 9 to 46 from our family that went although the 9 year old was a bit freaked out by Two Face but other than that they thought the movie was full of action and excitement

I was disappointed. The story got so convoluted that I lost interest in it and just found myself waiting for the effects to excite me. Heath Ledger was the best part of the movie, and it's worth it to see his final amazing performance.

This is definitely one I'll buy. There was so much going on there will always be something I missed. I loved the performances and the darkness was right with just the dash of humor. I'm very picky (with the price of movies) as to which movies I see on the big screen. You will not be disappointed!

Made my top ten almost solely riding on Ledger's beyond phenomenal performance. And, I almost never say that about a movie. Katie Holmes would've been better, but that didn't by any means make or break the movie. Caine great as always. Bale too. Supporting cast was very good.

I took my grandkids, 8 and 12, to see this movie. It was definitely dark and violent and HeathLedger was evil, but not Oscar quality in my opinion. The movie kept you on the edge of your seat, but was too much for my granddaughter at 8 years old. She had a headache from it and I was slightly nauseated. Just too much!

Great movie! Well done, good special effects. Heath Ledger really was incredible to watch. My 8-year-old couldn't take his eyes off the screen the entire 2 1/2 hours!

What makes a man good or evil? What are good and evil? What is a hero? Deeper questions than most action flicks ask are probed by this movie dominated by action sequences some of which are so frenetic it is impossible to see what is actually going on. Though this leaves one at the edge of one's seat, it is not as fulfilling as clearer action could be. One has a sense of looking at a very complex painting the size of a house from a distance of a mile and trying to figure out what's in the details. And sure, the car is neat - but ho-hum after the first few shots. Gary Oldman as Gordon is too understated in his prtrayal; Christian Bale tries too hard to be the tough guy image in his Batman guise, almost a caricature of the old classic-movie toughs who make us laugh today with their self-parodying portrayals; his also made me chukle. But the movie does lose that 'this is Batman' quality some of the earlier ones had, and you really forget he is the 'hero' of the movie and fear for him - which allows some drama and suspense to enter.
Heath Ledger is the star of this movie; no trace of the actor can be found within the utterly consuming Joker character. His madness is all the more frightening because is seems so matter-of-fact, so next-door. His evil offers a new facet to the conundrums the movie tries to explore. Aaron Eckhart unfortunately plays 'Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent', and you never forget it is simply Aaron Eckhart and his character never comes out of that shadow - until the ending scenes. The subplot of the creation of 'Two-Face' is a masterful touch in this uneven movie, and his presentation of the changed Harvey is convincing and disturbing for its suddenness and reality.
Enjoy Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in their too-brief scenes and take in the visuals. These, together with Ledger's Joker and Eckhart's final transformation redeem this movie in which Batman seems more of a plot device than the central point.
A must-see if only for these reasons; and of course the last chance to see a truly great actor (a rarity in a Hollywood devoted only to prettiness and not skill) at the height of his craft - Heath Ledger!

I was looking forward to this movie for 2 reasons
1) I liked "Batman Begins" and was waiting for a sequel
2) Comments about Heath Ledger's amazing performance as Joker
And boy I was amazed by "The Dark Knight". This is a great movie that everyone should watch. The storyline, the directors touch and most important of all Joker.
Heath deserves a posthumous Oscar for his performance as the Joker. He played the part so well that if I close my eyes and think of the movie I can see his eyes with that calm evil smile as he sits in the cell.
He is the best Joker that has come into any Batman movie and am not sure if anyone can surpass his acting as the character, Joker.
Every inch of the movie where the Joker jumps in makes you sit on the edge of the seat and watch what his next move or reaction will be.
Other actors also deserve recognition for their great performances in this movie. Nolan has taken the movie in a direction that your eyes are glued on to the screen without realizing the fact the person in the next seat is munching on your popcorn.
I did regret one thing, not watching this on IMAX...
If you get 3 hours off, just go watch this movie, come back, load your review.
Heath, the world will miss you.

The Dark Knight is a must see, and one of the top 3-5 movies of the past five years. A great story line with some incredible action sequences. With such a dark plot line, this movie could definitely creat nightmares for young children, so I don't recommend it for anyone with children under 9-10 years old. Heath Ledger's performance is superb and should definitely win an Oscar. The voice he created for the Joker is so creepy it makes your skin crawl. Ledger perfectly plays a character so chaotically evil that we can only hope no one in real life ever falls into that kind of madness.
I highly recommend this movie, and would watch it again several times. There are very few movies I've ever felt that way about.

Very captivating, great acting. Heath Ledger steals the show...he is absolutely psychotic. Christian Bale is a great Batman, too. The action kept me on the edge of my seat.

Incredible movie. The movie kept a fast pace and was full of twists and turns. Jack Nicholson as the Joker was good but Heath Ledger's reincarnation as the Joker was absolutely brilliant. The power of suggestion is very strong -- there was a lot of violence and the movie got it's point across tastefully without having to be graphic and showing a lot of gore.
I look forward to Christian Bale's return in the next Batman installment.

Totally recommend it - best movie I've seen in a long time. For those of you who have kids right around 13 I would be hesitant to let them watch it. You may want to watch it first before you let them go see so you can find out if your kid can handle it.

I heard Heath had played a great part as the Joker in this movie, but I did not expect it to be so OUT OF THIS WORLD!! The latest installment in the Batman series does not disappoint. Delving further into the characters of the film, Dark Knight brings the audience closer to understanding the duality of Bruce Wayne and makes Batman much more than a masked super hero. Heath Ledgers' performance as a truly psychotic and sociopathic Joker sets this film apart from its' predecessors. This is not a movie to take young children to, but it is one to see at least twice on the big screen.

This installment of the new Batman series was phenomenal. Christian Bale continued to do an amazing job as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Michael Caine is Alfred to a "T". Heath Ledger stole the show for me though. Watching him portray the Joker, you believe that he is psychotic. Without giving things away from the movie, it is hard to describe how good of a job he did. He definitely deserves all the accolades he has received! This movie is not for young kids. There is a lot of violence, death and destruction.

I was an extremely solid and good movie and Heath Ledger was amazing. I really enjoyed the first 2 hours of the movie. The last 30-40 minutes was senseless. I walked away wondering why it didn't end earlier. The last part I understand was to set up the next movie but they could have done that in about five minutes instead of 40. There is a hostage scene toward the end where there are a bunch of people in a building, what was that about? Where did they come from? What purpose did they serve? I just did not get that whole part of the movie.
I truly enjoyed most of the movie but that last part left me wondering why take such a solid movie and foul it up. Maybe it was the editing and there was a couple of scenes which were cut that would have tied it together better. It is worth seeing but as most movies, is not perfect.

I loved Batman Returns and was eagerly looking forward to the Dark Knight, but I was disappointed. This movie is a series of "I fooled you, you fooled me" twists that gets pretty boring in the first hour. The moral dilemma that the characters face is overdone.
Heath Ledger was excellent and the only real emotion this movie evoked was one of sadness that his life was cut short.

The Batman movies keep getting better and better. Nobody will ever be able to fill the shoes of the Joker like Heath Ledger did. I think, I prefer the newer movies to the older ones. The villians in the new Batman's are normal in appearence; whereas, those in the older movies appear more comic book. This movie kept you on the edge of your seat, no lapse in action, and it left you holding your breathe. I left the movie theatre physically exhausted.

I saw this movie twice just to get all of the nuances. The acting is superb and Heath Ledger as the Joker is one of the all time superb classic acting performaces. He will be immortalized for this role and played it with finesse and spot on accuracy as the crazed madman he protrayed. Christian Bale as Batman was also outstanding. It was almost as if these two were destined to torment one another.The sound track is outstanding as well. This is the real genre of the Batman legend, dark and brooding.
