The movie was OK. Had potential to be spectacular, but some things didn't click. Cinematography was mediocre and a disservice to the true beauty of Australia. The ending was too predictable, formulaic, and like a fairy tale. Baz Luhrmann crammed too much into the last 30 minutes making the film seem even more contrived. The computer graphics were awful, obviously fake, and distracting. Neither Kidman nor Jackman will win an Oscar. The young kid playing the "creamy" (mixed Aborigine/white) could win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Enough love interest to make the women happy, and enough action to keep the guys awake. Not a must see at the theater, but an OK video rental or pay per view option.
The Dark Knight is a must see, and one of the top 3-5 movies of the past five years. A great story line with some incredible action sequences. With such a dark plot line, this movie could definitely creat nightmares for young children, so I don't recommend it for anyone with children under 9-10 years old. Heath Ledger's performance is superb and should definitely win an Oscar. The voice he created for the Joker is so creepy it makes your skin crawl. Ledger perfectly plays a character so chaotically evil that we can only hope no one in real life ever falls into that kind of madness.
I highly recommend this movie, and would watch it again several times. There are very few movies I've ever felt that way about.
