Not the Cohen Bros. best work here. This may have to do with what I thought were sub-par performances by both Pitt and (shockingly) McDormand, though it's difficult to say whether the acting of the script was actually responsible for the overall head scratch-inducing effect. There are, however, several good things going on in this flick. Malkovich (as always), Clooney, and the dad from 6 Feet Under turn in great, and more importantly, especially when compared to Pitt and McDormand, believable, performances. Be forewarned, this is no Lebowski. That said, it's not nearly as bad as The Hudsucker Proxy either. It was a let down, but only because the Cohen bros have set the bar so high in the past.
