I watched the original Star Trek growing up so it's fun to spot the subtle references from that show in this movie but even if you've never seen the original you will love this . My kids can't stop talking about how much they loved it and want to see it again. Great casting..loved Bones! Lots of action, never a dull moment! Go see it! Great for everyone.

As far as Sci-Fi goes this was a pretty good movie. As far as Star Trek goes, all I can do is facepalm. One might say that the movie has a great set of plot twists and all that. The CG space battles were excellent. But it was a silly Star Trek. Bridge too white, ship itself way too battle capable than it really should have been, plot twists as Star Trek goes were silly. Oh hey lets implode Vulcan. Ok!

This movie was great. I grew up watching both the original star trek series and the next generation. The best thing for me about the movie was that if youve never watched star trek before, you got the whole story and wouldn't be lost, but if you are a star trek fan, they got most of the nuiances that only true fans would expect (ie: the "red uniform" guy, McCoy catch phrases, etc). Plus, special effects were sweet! Great movie overall.

I must admit..this movie had so many opprotunites to fail but IT DIDN'T!!! YAY!! From beginning to end it stayed interesting and fun. There was humor, cool special affects, great action and a superb cast. Really, this was my all time favorite Star Trek movie. I love the fac t that you see how it all began.
The casting was excellent. Zachary Quinto as Spock was so entertaining and a little be sexy. Ok, I'm officially out of the closet as a Spock lover:-) Anyway, worth every dime!
Probably will go see this one again.

JJ Abrams and crew apparently have decided that we did not get enough of Spock, Bones, Sulu, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, and Kirk back in 1967 and onward. So they've changed history so that they have an entire new life to record on film and even another TV series if they really want to. Should they? Yes. Why? Because the best thing that Roddenberry did was to bring hope to a discouraged world. Hope that poverty, racism, hunger and disease would be eradicated in our future. We still need that hope.

Great take away on an old favorite of mine. Star Trek the original series and all the movies really started this era of Space Adventures. Opened the door for several more movies. It was done very well and am looking forward to adding it to my collection and seeing more in the future.

Having seen all the ads with a young Kirk, it would have been great to have new Star Trek movie that actually filled in the history of the early Kirk years, but instead throws the entire timeline out in prep for an obviously lucrative new franchise... Those early scenes? They're not of the James T. Kirk that we all know from the original series, but rather a young brat with typecast jock issues.

This new incarnation of Star Trek was incredible! I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I am a purist for Star Trek: always loved the original. Tolerated the spin offs. What charmed me about this movie is the consistency of appearance of the original cast and the mannerisms were spot on. I loved it. It was incredible in the special effects and it was moving in many areas. A totally new Star Trek that can move on its own boldly into a new dimension. I rate this movie a 5-star thrill ride. Go see it and take your original Star Trek feelings with you. You won't be disappointed.

I've seen most of the previous Star Trek movies and enjoyed most of them, others not so much. This movie blows them all away! And it literally wipes the slate clean for hopefully more stories in the future. You don't just get introduced to the main characters and wonder, "OK, who is that?" There just enough intro to their back stories to make them real. And they act and respond like real people. There's a peppering of light moments that were appropriate and didn't come off as cheesy like Star War had a habit. A word to the hardcore trekkies, get it a chance, it's a brand spanking new chance at a whole new universe!!

This movie was just all around wonderful. Great for fans and non-fans of all ages. Some nice little "twists" for those who remember the original series (tv and movies) but also great
for newcomers. My 7yr old son "LOVED" it. Lots of great one-liners, but enough action for the most die hard action buff. Will definitly purchse when it comes out and hope they make more with this cast. Great way to forget yourself for a couple of hours.

This movie blends the old with the new in exciting fashion. True to the story line of old, they cleverly introduce us to new actors and provide a clear watershed moment for the story line to deviate into all new adventures with our favorite characters. When I first saw the trailer I thought "ok, a prequel". Now I'm ready for the next movie!

Talk about a breath of fresh air. Based on the trailers, this movie looked great, but having seen it, it is nothing less than epic in my opinion. The characters are so wonderfully cast and they all have great chemistry with one another. As for the special effects, they are absolutely first rate. I would like to see them on their next voyage sooner than later.

My wife and I who were really not huge fans of the original series (but loved TNG, DS9 and Enterprise) had a great time from start to end at this film.
I got more of the subtle jokes referencing the original series than she did, but that didn't stop both of us from laughing, nor did it stop our adrenaline from pumping through most of the flick. JJ Abrams Rocks!

I have never seen a Star Trek movie before, but I absolutely loved this movie!!! It was amazing all around - great (and very clever) storyline, wonderful actors, and fantastic special effects! My husband is a fan of the original Star Trek and he loved it too, so it is great for everybody, and is a surprisingly fun date movie. I would definitely recommend this movie!

Excellant movie, I cant wait to watch it again. All the actors had their characters down. The movie gave you a greater understanding of how the character came to be, but yet how its changed, I left wanting more. I can't wait to buy it on dvd. This movie just might make me go out and buy a blue ray TV. Congrats to all who were involed in making this movie and thank you to Lenard Nemoy. I was great to see Spock again.

Wow, wow, wow. I went into the theatre for this movie thinking it would never reach my high expectations. Boy, was I wrong. The number one great thing about this movie was the cast. They were perfect! Some were spot-on to the originals (like Urban as Bones) and some were quite different (like Pine as Kirk) but all fit the bill exactly as they needed to be. I went with some non-Trek fans who also enjoyed it. Can't wait to see it again!

I found the movie entertaining and worth the experience to take my daughter to see but as a person who not only watched but has closely followed the series since its original run in the 60's, I was disappointed in the rewriting of some of the shows history, in story lines and characters.
For those that did not grow up watching the original series nor the subsequent movies, they may never realize the differences nor sequence order of events that have been changed. If the writers merely intended to create an alternate reality, by writing a new beginning, then they did their job well, but it is not the Star Trek those loyal to the series that Gene created have come to cherish.

Star Trek 2009 is an excellent summer blockbuster, very entertaining and worth the price of admission. Lots of energy and excitement with a shot of emotion that ties the story together. It felt like an opening act however rushed to introduce all of the key characters. Plot set up was a little awkward and executed too quickly for the average non-technical fan to follow but fit somewhat in the overall flow of the film well enough not to make it a total disaster. Like all Sci Fi genre movies, believability is the hardest mountain to climb... if you can overlook an uncomfortable plot sequence then this was an excellent summer blockbuster movie... just a little awkward.

This movie takes you back to a new beginning and introduces the audience to the new cast. The movie clues us in on where the personality quirks, nicknames and habits of the original Star Trek cast came from and made them such a wonderful onscreen family for more than 30 years. Star Trek 2009 is a GREAT movie and I'm recommending it to everyone I know, and that's the biggest endorsement it could get!!

Uhura sitting in a BREWERY? The 'water turbine room' not very Trekky. The bridge was fantastic, but some of the sets were cheap looking, kinda like an old factory. That said, the story was good, just missed having a battle scene with multiple star fleet ships attacking the enemy vessel.

I've been watching Star Trek since the old re-runs of the 1960's series. I went through most of the other movies, the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. This new Star Trek rendition was great because it has enough for the old fans to reminisce, but not too much that the newer audience "won't get it." The actors were great overall and the story was clever in how it weaves into the already existing Star Trek saga. I would have given it 4.5 stars if that rating was available. I can't give it 5 stars because of some oddities which ocurred with Mr. Spok, (the young one). In any case, it is DEFINITELY worth watching on the big screen.

Great movie. Definitely keeps you at the edge of your seat during the entire movie! Gotta love the way they work in the old wordage from the old series into the script. Definitely a must-see movie. I would go back and watch it again with friends.
