A little melodramatic at times but a lot of fun in the vein of Harry Potter with aggressive action sequences and story telling. Surprisingly good film.

Excellent but awkward

Star Trek 2009 is an excellent summer blockbuster, very entertaining and worth the price of admission. Lots of energy and excitement with a shot of emotion that ties the story together. It felt like an opening act however rushed to introduce all of the key characters. Plot set up was a little awkward and executed too quickly for the average non-technical fan to follow but fit somewhat in the overall flow of the film well enough not to make it a total disaster. Like all Sci Fi genre movies, believability is the hardest mountain to climb... if you can overlook an uncomfortable plot sequence then this was an excellent summer blockbuster movie... just a little awkward.
