Wow! Just wow! I LOVED this film. From the opening sequence, it grabbed me. The acting is amazing. It's hard to believe that Gabourey Sidibe is a newcomer. She is exceptional - not one false note. And all of the supporting players are great. Mo'Nique turns in a performance as different from her image as you can imagine. Somebody give this woman more dramatic roles! The directing is amazing. You can tell that no frame was taken for granted. This is a work of art.
I've never been so involved in a film that when it ended, I was shocked. Nooo! I did not want this movie to end. It is now in my top ten films of all time.

Its been a long time since ive seen a drama this good- it was intense, heartbreaking and rewarding through and through- the artistic way it was filmed and the score had me entertained while the casts interaction with each other kept me wanting for more- it just felt so real- i kept me thinking about all the real life situations people are goings though right now- all the pain and desire people go through and how others just try to bring them down-this was an emotional movie for me and i would recommend it to anyone-

I blame myself for not checking the rating. I saw the trailer and expected it to be heartbreaking and there to be tears, but I did not expect the explicit nature. I feel that the actors played their roles really well and all deserve notariety for them, but I don't feel it was necessary for it to be so graphic. I have to pray to God, periodically, to remove the images from my head. I just think the movie would have been better if less sexually graphic. Whatever you decide is your choice, but if you are a true Christian, I promise you, you will want to skip this film.

"Too Much of a Bad Thing" would have been a more appropriate title than "Precious", there's absolutely nothing Precious about this movie. I'm disappointed that Tyler Perry put his name on this one. If you're going to violate your audience at least let them know not to come fully dressed in their best, so they don't feel so dirty for making the choice to come in and support you. Where was the message of hope? Salvation? God doesn't just leave a person in the wilderness Tyler Perry, remember your own life?

Intense, Powerful, and gritty. This movie hits you from all sides. It tells a story in direct and "in your face" terms but it never gets overly graphic or gross, some of it is left for you the viewer to conclude what happened. Just a well told story and a necessary voice that needed to be heard.

I'm not a huge Oprah fan but I salute her for helping to produce this grim, but powerful and edifying movie. Wonderful acting by all, including a fine performance from Mariah Carey. I had planned to take my 15 year old niece, but I got sprung from work early the day before Thanksgiving so I decided to catch it alone. Thank GOD I didn't take her, I didn't think it my place to have taken her. As a work of art, all did a very good job at portraying their characters. I could def relate to the emotional, and some of the physical abuse heaped on Precious. It just left me in despair, I was looking for more of a triumphant ending for Precious. Tho she walked away free from her main demon, she was left with lots more baggage for her future. I agree this is a story that needs to be told,I hope it opens up some much needed dialouge, and/or gives someone the courage to either stand up for themselves, or help someone else.

I liked the movie because I know there's a child/adult out there who has had/is having these horrific experiences. Perhaps a mother or relative will be able to see themselves as society would see them. What I find disturbing about this film is: The real possibility of white patrons using this to label all people of color. What I call the "See, that's how they are" syndrome. Having worked in "The System", I know first hand, abuse knows no color.

I really did like this movie. Both actresses played their roles perfectly. I actually did take my daughter- age 14 to see that movie. I feel that it was good for her to watch because she can be aware of how to be careful for herself and for her children when she has them. This was a wonderful movie. At many points in the movie I didnt want to watch but had to to see was would happen next. Precious was very touching and REAL. I went home and held my babies tight and prayed that they never would have to go through what she did.

This movie is a true example of how people may try to break you. You are made to be bent but not broken because God will not put more on you than you can bear. Precious is an overcomer and didn't let life get the best of her. Not her mother, father, the disease, her children, nor her education could keep her down. She didn't let the curse run on down from her mother to her abusing her kids. I am glad Precious was victorious. This is a must see film. To my single family watch who you have over your kids.

A heartbreaking movie, all too true in many families. At first I found myself wanting to be angry with Mo'Nique's character, but then I cried because I realized how much she hated herself because she never knew how much God loved her. I applauded Precious for her tenacity and hoped that somewhere after the credits rolled she chose to forgive her mother for what she had done, so her and her children's future would be secure. For all the Preciouses in the world--forgive, forgive, forgive and let the love of God heal you! Thank you, Sapphire and Lee Daniels, for bringing this story out. May someone get free as a result!

A gritty, raw view of a life many girls know as reality. Some of the scenes, and situations, may be too much for some too handle. For me, it was just a reminder of how much some of us have to overcome. The stars of this movie made it REAL!

Working as a child therapist dealing with abused and neglected children, this was an accurate reflection of the realities most American families are unaware of. This was a necessary and pertinent movie that will surely awaken many to the sad truth evident in the lives of abused and neglected youth.
