What a stunning movie. I've not really been interested in anything ballet before, but watching Portman's portrayal of a ballerina's internal struggle when selected to play the lead in Swan Lake was mesmerizing.
I'm not sure if the ballet was CGI or whether Portman could actually do all that stuff, but whichever, she's definitely an Oscar contender.
This film had me hanging on my seat for the last hour!
The concept is manipulating peoples actions by planting a thought in their head and making them believe it's their own thought. This is done in the dreamworld. Then, there's a great plot (involving handsome industrialist from Red Eye), evil father and so much more.
It's quite a long film at 148 minutes, and took time to really open up. However, it's absolutely the best film to have happened since the Matrix trilogy. DeCaprio is ok, but it could have been any half decent actor and it would still have been outstanding.
Of course I did the obligatory "oh everyone look who's popped in, It's Ellen", as I think most people did, but she was cool and believable.
There are some films you leave thinking, I'll have forgotten this by the time I get home. Others, you can't wait to see again. I'm going to see this again tomorrow night and I think it will be FANTASTIC in 3D.
All the hype.... and the best bits were in the trailer.
An extremely implausible plot (but then I'd expected that), with, I have to say, some good humor between the two lead characters, but so far fetched and in so many locations.
Putting two big stars in multiple exotic locations, having them in swimsuits DOES not a blockbuster make!!
Firstly, this is the best movie I've seen in a long time!!
I've seen this movie a couple of times now, the first time on a big screen, the second in 3D.
It wasn't worth the additional fee to watch in 3d.
The movie is FANTASTIC, don't get me wrong and I loved watching it again. I just don't think the few ferns you get in your face make for a cool 3d experience. there are many other better 3d films
Be prepared for some outstanding performances. I would expect that Monique and the star of the film - Gabby Sidibe will receive Oscar nominations. They deserve them.
Gritty, real and painful observations, but with such wonderful humor that you'll find you're laughing at what's happening while feeling her pain.
Fun idea. If there's a book, I'm sure it's great. However, as is often the case, the film leaves something to be desired. It could have been fantastic, but I believe it was cut a little short.
Bruce Willis likely signed up because this looked great on paper, but they didn't quite deliver.
I'd definitely recommend it but save some cash and go see the matinee.
I normally like this sort of film, so I went to check it out. there were more groans in the audience than wows. I thought Jason Stratham would have added some life to it and he did to a point, but this doesn't have a patch on the Transporter films he's been in. And Burt Reynolds..What were they thinking...?
