This is definitely a worthwhile movie to see, I thought it was well done, and so timely in terms of the subject matter. I'm not a George Clooney fan at all, but I did like him in this role. Yes, some of it is predictable, as other reviewers stated, but for me it was still dramatic to see what happens. I thought the ending could have been better, but this is probably more realistic. I think 4 stars out of 5 sums it up. There's certainly a lot worse out there and at least you won't feel like you wasted your money after seeing this one.

Very good writing, no slow moments and enjoyable from start to finish. A few well-known actors make brief appearances in this movie without distracting the audience or interrupting the flow. As much as I liked the movie, I don't think I would ever watch it again -- thus the four and not five star rating. It's one of those movies that once you've seen it, you've seen it.

Down in th dumps would be more like it. It was not the movie to see on Valentine's Day. It's a sad state of affairs when meaningless sexual relationships are touted in movies. Then, when one character discovers there could be value in a long term relationship, he discovers a shallow, selfish woman who never once thought of her family - sort of like Tiger Woods. All she cared about was protecting herself. I found the movie disappointing.

See it . . . The movie succeeds by intertwining important issues of today . . . cost of success, generational differences, the economy and job losses and the importance of family / friends. Didn't think I'd like it but it makes you think long after its over. The acting was good . . . the "4th grader" in particular was effective. I was surprised at how funny this movie is...not really laugh out loud but with witty dialogue. The storyline was a bit predictable but that wasn't the point. This movie was a character study and had much to say about the U.S. workforce being 'disposable." Timely with great acting. I can now see why the three main characters have received so many nominations. I was especially impressed with Vera Farmiga.
One of the best things about the movie is that it's a comedy that's made for an intelligent audience, and didn't need to have gross-out, slapstick humor to get a big Hollywood PR campaign. I remember seeing a really cool billboard ad in L.A. right after it screened at Toronto. That's clout. 1-2 punch of having Mssrs. Reitman and Clooney?

This movie surprised me. I was expecting a lighter storyline. What I got was a serious, introspective on the main character. While the movie is not a "happily ever after" affair, it is an excellent treatment of the characters involved. I enjoyed the character development and Clooney's subtle humor was nice. I can see how he and Anna Kendrick were nominated but I liked Vera Farmiga just as much if not more. It's a good movie but not "Picture of the Year".

I like George Clooney. But I didn't care for this movie. It made me feel lonely, which I usually don't mind because I value my alone time. And it made me remember the helplessness you feel when you are the provider for your family and that is taken from you. The only thing that really impressed me was how he managed to spend so much time on the road and do it all out of one carry-on suitcase. Rather like Mary Poppins.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The subject matter- firing people with no conscience while traveling acoss the USA getting mileage points and proud of how good he is at it - was offensive.... The acting as a motivational speaker was stilted and totally unrealistic. The relationships portrayed were shallow, venal and typical of John Edwards type of morality. What a waste of money and time. I expected more of Clooney.
