Everything about this movie was stellar, except perhaps the portrayal of Winston Churchill. If you love English History you'll adore it, and if you are UK History Challenged, it'll set you right. Not to mention HILARIOUS!!!
50 something went with two 20-somethings... and we all felt it was adequate , but not the fantastic flick its been hyped to be. A lot of drawn out inter-character cornball. The Harry Dancing scene was ludicrous. You have to Love the books to get through the movie. Each one loses more MAGIC than the preceeding.
Even as a bit of an anti-hero, George still comes off a good guy. The movie holds interest though subject matter is not uplifting. Predictable, but done well~
Tasty gourmet treat of a movie. Meryl and Amy both 'blend & mix' into entirely new personnas. Of course, Meryl is a masterful chef at 'whipping' herself into unique roles. Two endearing love stories 'cooked up' & 'served' with a generous 'dash' of humor, and as delicious as Boeuf Bourgon.... Oh! however you spell Julia Child's signature beef stew! You'll love it.
Definitely wouldn't bring a child to this one! Unless you want them to see a child being intentionally blinded? The game show portion is predictable, the interwoven story [backflashed], is extremely creative, but quite a miserable depiction of 3rd world poverty.
I'm the only one out there who hadn't seen the play with only a vague idea about a girl and 3 possible dads- from movie quick pics. I went in a bum mood and it really perked me up! Colorful, buoyant~ really gets your feet tapping! Meryl was fabulous as always, Pierce (not a great vocalist), but charming. All the actors handled the kitch well. * DON'T jump up and leave at the credits, or you'll miss the 2nd curtain call... its hilarious!!!
