I was surprised at how funny this movie is...not really laugh out loud but with witty dialogue. The storyline was a bit predictable but that wasn't the point. This movie was a character study and had much to say about the U.S. workforce being 'disposable." Timely with great acting. I can now see why the three main characters have received so many nominations. I was especially impressed with Vera Farmiga.
One of the best things about the movie is that it's a comedy that's made for an intelligent audience, and didn't need to have gross-out, slapstick humor to get a big Hollywood PR campaign. I remember seeing a really cool billboard ad in L.A. right after it screened at Toronto. That's clout. 1-2 punch of having Mssrs. Reitman and Clooney?
