This was an extremely enjoyable movie - worthy of a second or third viewing. The interaction between Kirk and Spock was really funny. Uhura had more to do here than she ever had to do in the Original Series. If you're a "Trekkie", you'll love the in-jokes and the respect shown to canon. If you're not, you'll enjoy the movie regardless. Go see it!

excellant quality of picture close ups were a bit too detailed. space scenes were fantastic new beginning for star trek?? kirk was a good choice, sexy but played up the ladies man a bit much. spock was great choice from HEROES series. uhura was beautiful mckoy was perfect time line change, new basis for a whole new series i would definatly be looking for, and will follow.

Star Trek is a significant component in my cultural DNA. Yet, my passion for Star Trek and science fiction is not one I openly share. No, its not shame, but the fact that I will settle for weaker plot lines, subpar acting and overt sexism to get my fix. Justifying this to more PC friends was something I tried to avoid.
And while the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica brought me out of the closet, this movie removed the door. It is wonderful. The silliness of the original series, the character driven humour, and the action are well balanced. The future looks good for us Trekkies.
If Star Trek is in your genes too, go see it, on a big screen. It will make you proud.

Bravo J.J., you managed to turn a bunch of cast along T.V. actors into the crew of the most famous starship on either screen. It was hard not to think of Sylar playing Spock, but overall the movie was fun and interesting throughout. I do highly recommend watching this in IMAX if you get the opportunity but this movie will work on any screen.

Fun but disappointing. The characterizations and dialogue were faithful to the original series---a plus---but alas, the plot was as well. No originality and huge logic holes. Can't witers come up with anything but a time travel story anymore? Star Trek has already overused that device, and Lost, and Terminator, and so on and on. Also, the camera is jerked all over the place making it hard to actually see what is happening. Not classic SF.

Somone learned a lesson and decided not to destroy this classic like they did with "Star Wars" in the prequels. Aside from the special effects the real entertainment was in the characters and their initial introduction to new generations as well as re-introduction to us old school trekies. Even more over with the slight touch of humor that was put in was the cherry on top. IMAX was well worth in this case and I also can not wait for sequels. They needs to stick to the basics and do exactly how this was done to keep with the high standard that was just set. We are desynthesized with special affects but NOT with special characters. Well done. Bravo!!!

This is a Great movie! Yes I am a Trek fan. I have followed the shows and movies over the years. I have to admit that they did a fantastic job creating a whole new story line. The cast was perfect and of course the special effects unbelievable! A must see in IMAX! I am hoping they begin a new series from this cast and storyline. The Movie was awesome. I will happily go see it again. JJ Abrams did a very good job in changing the timeline. I would have much rather of seen Mark Lenard play Spocks father instead of Ben Cross. Mr. Cross has a very big shoe to fill, especially if there are more movies to come following this timeline.

Great movie. I'd skip the IMAX version and see the regular version, though. The daytime scenes were not bright enough on the big screen, and I don't think the resolution was up to the screen size. Real IMAX films are shot on a larger format film negative. I don't believe this movie was shot that way, and suffers from the enlargement. But, great movie, going to see it again in the regular version.

To start, this is NOT the Star Trek that everyone would remember. In fact, history in itself has been re-written by the entire film. Not to spoil anything, I shall refrain from even describing why. However, the film itself pays utter homage to its origins, containing lines uttered by the immortal cast headed by Shatner, Neemoy, Kelley, Takei, Nichols, Doohan and Koenig. Everything is modernized, well as modernized as the props and effects can be for a plot set more than 200 years in our future. There is a bit of humor, hearing some of these legendary lines uttered by this new cast, bringing a good sense of nostalgia to the film.

The action in this movie was awesome, the comic relief was great and it entertained me to no end. There were just a few small things that i was bothered by because I'm a film major and picky. Too many lens flares that just became distracting after awhile. Little things the story had to include in order to make sense with the original plot, I just saw as sort of cheesy. And would be five stars if they hadn't brought back the original Spock as Spock, maybe Spock's dad or something, but provided good comic relief at some parts. Overall pretty darn good movie. Go see it IMAX, well worth it!

Very good movie. It does a great job of setting up more Star Trek movies. I think all of the actors hit their mark with each character. I think one key part of the movie could have been omitted and it would have significantly increased the desire for additional movies. First experience in an IMAX. This movie nailed all the best of Original Series Trek, and kept things moving along so well I never noticed it was 2 hours plus. Lots of humor, pathos, great character introductions and interactions, all driven by a very clever plot. And did I mention action? Plenty of break-neck action sequences, top-notch special effects, and a fabulous new-old Enterprise. Plus, the obligatory short and sweek Kirk-makes-out scene, only thing missing is the shot where he pulls his boots back on! All in all a starship-load of fun.

This movie is almost perfect. Saw it for the second time on IMAX screen...WOW. The audience was laughing at all the right times, clapping as the credits rolled. Everyone had a great time. Successful reboot of a classic franchise. I can't wait for the next installment. GO SEE THIS!!

I was curious to see how they would repackage Star Trek and I was BLOWN AWAY!!! The story lines were very good and the special effects were PHENOMENAL!!!!! The cast was superb and the cameos of well known actors was a lovely surprise. This movie is definitely a MUST SEE!!!

That was a fun couple hours. Excellent job of working Leonard Nimoy into the plot. Great casting. The franchise was on life support, but has been revived in a big way!

The movie was very well done. IMAX rules!!!! Now that time has changed everything, Star Trek can start all over again. Can't wait to see how long Star Trek will last.
