I saw this movie on Saturday and loved it. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are great in it. I love cooking and it was so funny to see them encounter issues as any normal person cooking would. It was such a good romantic-comedy that both men and women would love. You will fall in love with the characters and the storyline.

OK right off the bat....I am a Chef. So I had a little bit of self interest in seeing this story. I enjoyed the movie and though it was more of a girls night out movie theme, it really was a great representation of Julia's time in France (based upon her autobiography "Julia Child My time in Paris)

This was a very entertaining movie. The script was intelligent. The style of the directing and editing was seamless. The settings were wonderful and the opposite time zones were as much of the story as the subject matter.
The best part was seeing and hearing the talented Meryl Streep in the role of Julia Child. Amy Adams is always delightful and gives energy to the main protagonist's story. The rest of the cast , including the wonderful Stanley Tucci playing Julia Child's husband, was very supportive.
The icing on the cake of this film was a buoyant musical score that complemented the story . Kudos to brilliant director Nora Ephron and her ensemble for bringing together the ingredients to make a fine film.

Somewhere about 3/4 of the way through Julie & Julia, I realized that I was watching a truly great movie. It made me laugh and it made me cry and it was so very heartwarming. Julie&Julia is suitable for adult audiences because I think that most people younger than teenagers would not be interested in the subject matter. One thing I can say about this movie is that obviously French cooking is good for one's sensuality. That fact alone should inspire us all to grab a copy of Julia's book! This is a movie that you will want to watch over and over again.

I thought the critics in the Twin Cities were a bit unfair to this film. Besides the amazing performance by Meryl Streep who is practically channeling Julia Child, the real backbone of the film is the interplay between the two husbands and the support and encourage each provides their spouses reaching for their dreams. Merryl Streep is completely amazing. This movie is an invitation to the old Paris of 1950, to the food ( you can almost smell the perfume of the boeuf bourguignon)... One recommendation : book a good restaurant for after the movie!!!

This movie was a lot of fun for everyone. There were parts where you could not help but laugh - and everyone was. Casting was perfect - you could actually believe you were watching Julia Childs, even though you knew it was Meryl Streep. My husband figured this was a typical "chick flick" but he was pleasantly surprised. This is a movie that you can recommend to your friends with no hesitation.

Great movie! My husband went with me...the theater was filled with mostly women, so he was worried it could be a dreaded "chick flick". We both thought it was fun, entertaining and historical. I always wondered what lay behind Child's trilling voice and towering figure--now I feel I know. I almost had to remind myself, at the film's conclusion, that the real Child did not look like Streep. Whenever her chameleon skills are on display, the movie sings.
But I found Adams' "Julie" of Queens lacking. I was not compelled by her story, when contrasted with Child's tale, and I fault the script and Adams' natural onscreen warmth (which seemed at odds with the character's supposed witchy-ness, with a "b").
But much is forgiven, if for no other reason than the sheer joy with which Streep throws herself into the performance...that, plus seeing the food that Child loved, and watching the sheer joy of those lucky enough to consume it.

I loved everything about this movie, the cast, the script and the FOOD! The performances by both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were perfect, as were the supporting roles played by Stanley Tucie and Chris Messina. These four strong roles were complemented by the rest of the cast so perfectly that I felt i was actuallly watching the real Julie and Julia. The only thing I did not like was that I couldn't get out of the theater fast enough to make a dash to the first French restaurant I could find and EAT! I was SO hungry!

Just when you thought Meryl Streep couldn't get any, here comes her lastest role (especially after "The Devil Wears Prada). I nearly died when she says the one line in the movie for which I was not ready! It was hysterical to the core. I absolutely adored Stanley Tucci. The movie does get a wee bit long, but it's not unbearable. Amy Adams did a fine job--so did everyone one. I would definitely recommend this slice of heaven. Two thumbs up!

a fabulous movie. I have to agree with all! It was perhaos the most enertaining movie I've seen in years — and I see a lot of movies!
Meryl Streep was truly amazing as Julia Childs, and the intertwining of the two stories was a real leap of creative genius. I neve could have imagined it working this well, but the stories of 2 woman at such disparate times finding an outlet for their own creativity bound it all together. Finally its subtly, implied, message transcends the undeniable entertainment value it delivers. This is a knockout!

When was the last time that the audience applauded at the end of a novie you attended? We did for this one because it's just a joy!
The flipping back and forth between plotlines of Julie and Julia keeps the movie moving forward without dragging. Julia is a legend and this is the story of the book that launched her culinary career- richly, warmly and humorously told. Julie makes her cooking through the book a central goal to move out of the rut her career had become. The contrrast in personalities is remarkable and each accomplishes what she had striven for. A beautiful movie; a welcome change fom the video games so many productions have settled for.

I just loved this movie. I was not sure what to expect and it was so much better than I had thought it may be. Love the story of Julia Child and the acting was superb by all in the movie. Julie's story was interesting, but a tad boring, I found myself wishing for more on Julia.Amy Adams was great with what she had to work with.

This movie, although unfortunately peppered with some distasteful language and inuendos, (similar inuendos as Mama Mia for instance)is overall a good movie. I would recommend it to families with older children. The storyline of both characters keep your interest, and entertains & is enjoyable.
