Great seeing Meryl Streep & Steve Tucci together on screen again. Unexpected laughs and an on target (as usual) Streep portrayal of Julia. Amy Adams was delightful. I love Meryl Streep, and she didn't disappoint. Amy Adams held her own, and was thoroughly believable.How nice to see such loving husbands, who wanted so much for their wives to be fulfilled and to find their passion. Admittedly, I couldn't wait to get back to the scenes of Julia...her life and the times she lived through. I also loved the way the SNL scene with Dan Akroyd was worked into it. I can see where some might think it was too long, but it wasn't for me. I have to get that cookbook!

I saw this film with my 16 yr old daughter. We BOTH loved it. Great character development; two loving marriages; magnificent acting and an uplifting message. Finally, a movie I can go to with my daughter and not have to give the "not all of the human race is like that" lecture. We need more movies of human understanding and healthy dealing of hardships and adversity. Bravo to the director and the actors!

Saw Julie and Julia last night, and I want to go see it again. It is moving and uplifting. Both Meryl and Amy are wonderful, but it is the love of loving men that nourishes their souls. Should be required viewing for men of all ages. Meryl's portrayal of Julia will move you to tears, it is so good, and Amy Adams as her unknown protege holds the screen and pulls you into her story as well. Just loved Stanley Tucci as Paul Child - he and Meryl are fabulous! Go see it and then go have the best meal at the best restaurant you know. These characters will inspire you.

The majority of the theatre was men and women 55 and over. The film was funny, enjoyable, and delightful. Meryl Streep captured Julia Child to a "T". Amy Adams was adorable as Julie. I could almost smell the recipes she was making. I wanted to run out and buy a Julia Child cookbook after the movie. This screenplay came from two separate books and they were intertwined expertly.

For a "Foodie" such as myself, this movie possesed everything I could have hoped for. Meryl Streep was AMAZING - she did Julia Child justice. Her whit and pure "joy" was very evident. As for Amy Adams - she outdid herself. I saw Julie's need to be something other than she was - her want to be "something" - Amy brought out such great emotion.
I thouroughly enjoyed this movie and will reccomend to friends.
The only downside - I left the theater VERY HUNGRY.

While we really enjoyed this movie and the wonderful acting, I can't help but think that the screenplay would have been crisper if this had the advantage of the maturation that only comes when this type of material is first developed in the theater. the acting is superb by the whole cast, Meryl Streep's magnificent portrayal of Julia Child instead of overshadowing her fellow actors, they all complement each other in ways rarely achieved by casting and the director further, it reminds that in our busy world, paying attention to what we eat and the enormous enjoyment of the whole process -from shopping, preparing and eating- are elements of life we more often than not ignore in our rush to get wherever we are going. and if anyone has doubts as to the existence of a higher being, the wondrous intricacies of French cooking are a delicious way of dispelling any doubts

I had to keep fighting the urge to use my phone to go to Amazon.com and order all of Julia Child's books! I kept loving her as much as Julie loved her, thanks to Meryl Streep's incredibly spot-on performance. Streep was absolutely luminous and over-achiever Amy Adams managed to make slacker Julie an underdog I rooted for. Great film!

For those who love movies with plots based on real people and real life stories, this is a must-see. The joy of life that exudes from the screen is not to be missed. Streep is a powerhouse in her portrayal of a Julia Child who is both the Julia we all came to know via her TV shows and books and the Julia that exists in Julie's mind. And the food....oh, my! If you go see this film hungry, you will exit the theater in a rush to find your next meal be it home-cooked or at your favorite restaurant.

A great time to be had. This is a wonderful movie with exceptional performances by all principle players especially Meryl Streep who is always exceeding expectations. Be sure to eat after the movie, it will make you hungry for some fine dinning.
