War Horse really impressed me. I would classify this as a great movie. It was beautifully filmed and a work of art. I would buy this one and watch it over and over. It reminded me a bit of "Gone With the Wind" with it's wartime setting and the against-all-odds story. This was my favorite movie of 2011 and I've seen about 30.
This is a movie you watch for the comedic value, not a dramatic, believable storyline. Tracy wouldn't last 5 minutes as a law inforcement officer, but it's not MEANT to be realistic. It's meant to be FUNNY, and that it definitely does. If they took out all the F-bombs the movie would be 20 minutes shorter. Most definitely not a kids movie, thus the "R" rating. But, very funny in a 'laugh to yourself ' kind of way. Be sure to stay after the credits roll.
I saw this film with my 16 yr old daughter. We BOTH loved it. Great character development; two loving marriages; magnificent acting and an uplifting message. Finally, a movie I can go to with my daughter and not have to give the "not all of the human race is like that" lecture. We need more movies of human understanding and healthy dealing of hardships and adversity. Bravo to the director and the actors!
I found it very refreshing to see a film with a good story line, very respectable performances, a nice storyline twist and almost no profanity or comprimising scenes. It was interesting throughout and didn't drag in spots. I would recommend it to friends and it's a movie you could see with your young teen or take your Mom without embarrassing yourself.
