My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout the world and have even been to parts of the world that looked like segments in this movie. We, as Americans, truly do not appreciate what we have compared to the very poor and distressing ghettos and slums many of which are dipicted in this film. However, while we greatly enjoyed this movie, and admire the talent and effort made to dramatize conditions in the world, I do not feel it is the "best" film of the year. . "Slumdog Millionaire" is entertaining but should be given an award for "Best Foreign Film of the year.

I thought this film was absolutely amazing! Full of excitement; great story line without being confusing. It's crazy to think that the suffering those people go through in Mumbai is actually worse than portrayed in the movie. Also, the subtitles are very easy to read; I don't understand why people are complaining about it? I guess it's just the old folks? Anyways, it's a must-see- you'll definitely understand why it's winning so many awards!

Slumdog Millionaire took me to Mumbai - the sights, sounds, and energy were cleverly conveyed by the music, the vibrant color, the sheer volume of the sounds, the fact-paced action, the editing - it all worked to convey a sometimes chaotic, somewhat dangerous, but always exciting place. The young actors were superb. While their situation could have been depressing - they lifted the mood with their comedy, resourcefulness and spirit. The entire movie, but especially the final scenes, were filled with symbolic imagery. This movie well deserves all the praise and hopefully will garner lots of awards for both its actors and director. Go with an open mind and let yourself be transported and uplifted.

Don't know what all the hype is all about! The SUBTITLES do not appear on the bottom of the screen where its supposed to be. It popped up all over the place on the screen, very unpredictable. By the time your eyes found the subtitle location it will go off. Frustrating! The producer might think this is 'cute', but it is more than aggravating!! Some of my friends said the other theaters have subtitle on the bottom of screen, can they make the same movie with two diff subT format? Secondly, when actors finally spoke English at the end, but the volume of the movie was becoming so soft I could hardly hear it. This is indeed the most terrible movie-going experience... I did go & get my money back which I seldom do!

Solid performance from the young actors made this movie much better than it should have been. The story itself is quite contrived. What are the odds that practically every answer to the questions on "Wheel" would turn on these events in Jamal's life? If you can swallow that, then the movie comes together very well. Be aware that there are disturbing images, including violence against children, but most of these scenes are pivotal and advance the plot. I can't believe this is classified as a "comedy." Far from it. It is a child's struggle for survival under vile circumstances and how those events seemingly "reward" him later in life. It's a good movie, but Oscar worthy? Not for me.

Although this movie is full of no namers it was a great movie. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD because this one is a keeper for sure. It has a great story line with comedy intermixed. I am not a Indie or romantic movie kind of guy. My wife talked me into going. I am glad I did. It was a tremendously good movie. The scenery(were are now planning to go to India on vacation) in India was beautiful. The acting in all age phases were excellant. By far, one of the best movies made recently. The art, realism and direction of the movie are flawless. Not to mention the amazing pieces of music that collaborate with the scenes. The acting is also phenomenal. This movie is worthy of all the "hype" and all of the awards it has and will receive. For viewers that are more interested in the monotonous, incessant badgering and mockery of characters then this movie isn't for you. However, if u are a viewer that respects true art and the strong, very real depiction of other cultures then rest assured ...this movie could never be deemed "boring". Slumdog Millionaire was good, but not great. I am probably in the minority who didn't think this movie was an Ocsar walk-away, but I really found it somewhat boring. I didn't think the film deserved all the 'hype' it received at the Golden Globe Awards. I enjoyed the musical score but the plot was somewhat simplistic and very obvious. I felt I had to add my honest opinion in order to provide a more 'balanced' viewpoint. Likely there will be others who also share my views but may not choose to express them.

This movie was visually stunning and had an engaging narrative but was actually kind of conventional in its plot - very traditional Hollywood. Quite enjoyable but not awesome. Weak female characters.
I thought the music was awesome and bought the soundtrack but it doesn't stand up without the visuals.

Although this movie has been out for some time I was only recently was able to see it. I have to say it was the best movie I have seen in a long time. Great story, beautiful photography, great acting, great directing, great music. It has some very hard scenes to watch but in the end worth it all. I took my sister since she had not seen it and loved it even more the second time around. It will make you appreciate what we have here in the United States.

We went to go see this movie after all the accolades it's been receiving on the award shows. Many times, you'll go to one of these critically acclaimed movies and be totally disappointed, but not this time. This one lived up to the hype. I'm sure you've all read what it's about so I wont go into that. I'm just glad a movie like this got made in the first place and made it to the American market. We need more movies like this. Excellent cinematography. The movies shows the beauty of India, but also shows just how filthy and corrupt it is also. The dividing line between being born on the right side of the tracks or the wrong side of the tracks is vast. What a story of survival! Not one to be forgotten.
