This is by far the best movie Brad Pitt has made. While I do like like the city of Oakland, California (Fans have no manners at all), the story line was exceptional. Then again, isn't it always about the money? How about giving back to the fans? Soda shouldn't cost $4.00 a piece or a bag of peanuts $4.00 as well. Billy Bean asked management to make the soda free in the locker room for the players. How about the owners stepping up and doing something nice for the fans for a change. Overall, well played, well acted and encouraging that there still may be GM's out there who create excitement within their franchise. Enjoyed this movie immensely.
Ryan Gosling deadpans his personality or better yet, sleep walks throughout the movie. It started out with a great deal of potential and than, after about an hour into the film, morphs into a ridiculous mess of blood and gore. Albert Brooks should retire and Ron Perlman looks like the ape man reincarned. What was the director thinking when he used an excess of visual blood and horrific violence to display what was a very good movie into something else. One critic said, "This movie sucked." I don't agree with that statement but it good have been a much better film with better script writing.
WoodyAllen has always been a creative film maker. This time he shows his "coming of age." In this tale of a mismatched couple spending time with the prospective inlaws in Paris, Owen Wilson portrays the perfect character trying to find himself and lost in an imperfect world. His escape from reality is a venture into the past by way of midnight strolls in Paris. He finds something much more than he bargained for in a self discovery and the making of a new life and new values. A don't miss movie for the intellect. While short on the action a more than fulfilling movie on thought.
If it weren't for Steven Spielberg's special effects I would have given this movie one star. This film is a "RIP OFF" It's a compilation of many other films (The Goonies, ET, Aliens, etc.) The only reason it gets great reviews from the younger generation is because they were too young to remember the other films. While it was entertaining, it was aso very predictable. This is a movie where many of the younger generation were busily text messaging during the movie. I guess they wanted to tell their friends what "a great movie this was." Better still, rent "The Goonies" and see where it all started.
Rarely do I attend a movie with my wife that I would classify as a :Chick Flick." But this movie with an audience predominantly made of up of middle aged women, was fantastic! It had everything a comedy/drama should have. Laughter, humor, sincerity, firendships, trust, sex and of course a story to be told. I think we all can identify with at least one character in the film. This made "Hangover" look like a trailer for this movie. Please, please do not miss it. Remember, Dirk Diggler always tells the truth or else something might grow, if you get what I mean.
The plot and substance of the story were well thought out however the acting or rather obnoxious character portrayed by Will Ferrell was very slow moving. I kept waiting for something to "wake me up." A similar movie, "Solitary Man" starring Michael Douglas was much more thought provoking. Now on DVD, you should see it and compare. Will Ferrell's character basically got what he deserved.
A typical Vin Diesel movie. Listen to him literally "read his lines" and you get the idea that he is not an accomplished actor. However, with that said, if you want action, plot that is ridiculous and a country with the worst police department in the world, then definitely see this movie. I've traveled all over the world and the dipiction of Rio de Janero makes this country look ugly both in stature and in scenery. It looks nothing like shown accept the poor and slum areas (which all countries have by the way). I gave it three stars for the fast action and the mass destruction of property that seems to be the trend these days and , of course, "The Rock." Sit back, relax and eat a lot of popcorn!
Matthew McConaughey reprises his lawyer character he has done before, only better. First rate courtroom drama as well as twists and turns to the plot. Movie is never boring and intellectually stimulating. Even the Title defines the film. Meant for mature audiences. Obvioulsy there will be a sequel or a spinoff for a TV series. Don't miss this one!
We go to the movies to be entertained. We should not be going to see a film a judge it on its plausibility factor. This film definitely entertains the audience. And for us Americans, the line in the film that talks about "illegal immigrants in Germany" is fact stranger than fiction at its best. Liam Neeson is true to form and gives an understanding performance as does the young lady playing Gina. You'll go through at least two bags of popcorn during the viewing. Don't miss it!
