Pros Premise and acting - Excellent
Cons Movie ran an hour and 29 minutes and with an extra half hour could have pulled some disjointed areas of the movie together. I would love to see what they left on the editors floor.

What a great movie! Full of twists & turns. A Great performance by Mr Willis with plenty of action & emotion as well! I've seen this twice already & it's only been showing two days! The 2nd time, I took 3 friends w/ me and they LOVED it! Clean family movie that doesn't push the PG-13 limit! Highly recommended!

If you can get past the asinine premise that humans would want to sit safely at home and live through surrogates, the movies was somewhat entertaining. Without Bruce Willis in the movie, it would rate about negative three stars. Being a Bruce Willis action flick adds four stars, giving the movie one star. "I Robot" for people who have money.....Yes everyone looks like what they want, not what they are, we've never heard that one before. Well after having read all the bad pre-release reviews I really expected this film to suck. But because I worked background, I had to see if the shots I was in actually made it to the film. The didn't save a half second on a dolly move. But despite the disadvantage of not having more of me, I found I enjoyed the movie quite a bit.
This movie doesn't stop for a second. While there are a couple of cheesy moments, there are some classically Bruce Willis humorous lines. My favorite is what he tells one of the corporate lawyers his guess as to just what she really is.
If you are a regular of Second Life, you will see some familiar themes here. If only the "Surrys" could fly and TP, it would be like a live action version of SL.

This movie was just as I expected, the action was very good, acting was good. The plot was better than I expected. Just don't go in there thinking this is a well written, plot twisitng movie, but rather go in for what it is a good action movie with a smart story line about where our future could easily be going. It was nothing like I Robot, except that there are robots, so give up on the comparsions!

Typical Hollywood, no more or no less. Unfortunately, I judge all of this genre by "Blade Runner" and this is no "Blade Runner." If "Blade Runner" is a 10 and "12 Monkeys" is a 6 or 7, Surrogates is maybe a 3, stretch to 4. Action? Yes, but not non-stop. Thought provoking? Only mildly. Special effects? Yes, but not a lot of money spent here. Movie theater required viewing? Nope. A DVD rental will do for this one. Complaints? Heavy, heavy, orchestration soundtrack. Why? Why? Why? If I notice soundtrack, then it over done and the soundtrack for "Surrogates" is a real distraction. Would I recommend to a friend? In theater? Nope. When released on DVD, if nothing better available at the time.

Surrogates is the kind of film that lingers in your mind long after it's over. It's a top-notch thriller, a frightening sci-fi film and a profound look at our superficial society.
Director Mostow keeps these diverse elements in order from the first frame as we are educated about surrogates until the final, humanizing coda.
Bruce Willis gives a painful, strong and overall magnificent performance both in and out of the robot shell.
The film I think is saying that we all have surrogates, the person we show society and the person we really are and in the end, no matter how much we support the former, the latter is the reality that makes us all human.

I have to admit.. for a change.. maybe too much action, but I loved it... and unlike previous reviews here, there WAS a story line that unfolded as you went along...Maybe less trips to the bathroom or concession stands, and the viewer may have gotten the story line...The suspense of not knowing who or where or why .. kept the viewers trrapped in their seats.....well, most of us anyway!!

At 89 minutes, this film doesn't have time to develop a story line or its characters. The idea of living your daily life through perfect, great looking "surrogates" is good enough to produce a terrific movie, but I was disappointed in the end. If you do see it, you can look forward to one great chase scene involving Willis' character's surrogate showing his super-human strength. It's too bad that there aren't more scenes like it.

Oustanding Movie!!! Very well written and awesome special effects. It had everything... action, adventure, robots, love story, etc. I feel like this movie would be enjoyed by all ages. The concept of the movie can be related to the future as well as the present day in many ways if you think about it. Really great messages about our current society as well as what it may be like in the future here. SciFi movies usually leave me trying to tie loose ends together. This movie tied it all together for me and left me leaving the theatre satisfied but wanting more! I highly recommend this flick !!!

Set in a near term timeframe (note the current era cars), this "reality as virtual reality" with realworld avatars concept is interesting but preposterous - it makes the requisite "suspension of disbelief" impossible.
The villan was immediately obvious - no "ah ha" moment like they hoped.
Someone suggested it was a mix of The Matrix and I, Robot - only if the mix includes a 100 liters of Thorazine.
Normally likable Willis plays his surrogate self stiff as a mannequin and his real self as if sleepwalking – none of the usual glib action hero persona that's become his trademark.

I love Bruce Willis-- This was not as action packed as I would have liked, but it was a good movie.. Check it out for yourself.

this movie was absolute failsauce. no one should ever pay money to see a movie this bad. although the previews were good, the actual movie was a complete let down. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

SF movies require some internal logic to allow the viewer to suspend belief. This movie fails to make internal sense. The backstory is lame and the direction, if not the acting, slow and laborious. It makes 12 Monkeys look like Gone With The Wind and Minority Report seem like Citizen Kane.
Bruce Willis doesn't even get a chance to be Bruce Willis. Not good enough for late night TV.

I went to the first showing of this movie and was surprised to see only about a dozen other people. I guess Bruce Willis doesn't have the same following as he used to.
The movie was average at best and sub-par for a Bruce Willis fan. It would be great for a stay-at-home evening when you haven't got anything else to do but it was disappointing on the big screen.

"Surrogates" leaps off the graphic novel page and onto the big screen in a real creative and dynamic way.
The story is very clever, with twists and turns that keep you entertained. And Bruce Willis' acting is really intense!
It felt like "The Matrix" mixed with "I, Robot" with a touch of "Pulp Fiction". Yet it was original and the ingredients blended well in this futuristic "Die Hard".
There were some slow moments. But the overall action and message in the end made up for it.
