This is a great film with a great cast wonderful effects and a story worthy of Mark Ruffalo's enormous talent. I could go on but ant talk of the film only ruins the constant surprises. Goo see it. I'm going again.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, mark ruffalo
Why do we keep making this book into a film? Because its great and timeless. This incarnation is bold literate and good to look at. DiCaprio is again excellent and McGuire is too.
The Iceman is a great movie. It has everything that a great movie should have. Good acting. The always dependable Ray Liotta who is just so good you get tired of praising him. Chris Evans whose chilling turn as a rival hitman will make you forget about Captain America. David Schwimmer who you have to see to believe. And Wynona Ryder who reminds us why we fell in love with her the first time.
It has a great (true) story of richard Klukinski a hitman who was also a devoted father.
But standing atop this treasure is Michael Shannon, one of my favorite actor who I am glad is finally getting the recognition for this tremendous talent.
He was nominated for best supporting actor in Revolutionary road and is stellar in Boardwalk Empire. But The Iceman is his breakthrough role. Shannon is roughly handsome, commanding but capable of conveying gut-tightening emotion at the drop of a hat. Bogart, Cagney, Stewart Trace all had this same ability. All the pretty boys have to move over and make room for him.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, ray liotta, chris evans
A potent mix of humor, mayhem and mystery, Pain an Gain is a very good movie. What erg is solid as usual and Anthony Mackey finally finds a role worthy of his immense talent. But it is Dwayne Johnson who steals the show as a Jesus and coke loving ex-con with a big body and a small brain.
You will have trouble believing this is a true story but it is! And what bloody fun it is.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, the rock
But he would be right at home there. Since "The Devil's Rejects," we have been treated to one of the most weird, imaginative and distinctive minds in the horro movie genre. Zombie's "Halloween" is a modern masterpiece of horror social commentary and new millennium dysfunction.
Lords of Salem is not as linear as those other two films but it shows the tremendous growth in Zombie's filmmaking. It is visually stunning, endlessly creepy and its third act is downright operatic. Sheri Zombie is enigmatic as Heidi a Robin Quivers-like DJ who is the legacy of a very bad situation. The film lays its story out very simply. It's the style getting there that makes this good... or well, Zombie good which is shocking.
I know what you're thinking.
But no I am not crazy and my last name is not Zombie. I am just an avid horror movie fan and for us, Mr. Zombie is our Hitchcock-- on acid.
It makes no sense to those who aren't well-versed in GI-Joe but there's enough action and FX to keep you satisfied for two hours. A waste of money in many senses and overal just mildly satisfying.
If you wanna see a great action movie, check out Dredd with Karl Urban or The Raid Redemption.
