For once, a remake is way better than the original (which was actually a kind of pathetic campy romp with poor actors except for Roddy McDowell and Chris Sarandon)
Lots of gore but certainly less than you'd see in recent films like Shark Night or the Texas Chainsaw remake
Well acted - David Tennant's Peter Vincent is a great upgrade from what they wasted Roddy McDowell doing. Charley's girlfriend is also considerably hotter and a better actress than in the original.
Has a "Chicago" feel to it - lots of singing and dancing - very entertaining - Aguilera's not a super actress but certainly better than Jennifer Hudson and she got an Oscar gift for her singing (and Aguilera can out sing Hudson by light years). Great supporting acting by Tucci, et al - although Alan Cummings seemed wasted albeit perhaps it's an homage to Joel Grey. A definite must see for anyone who likes musicals.
Set in a near term timeframe (note the current era cars), this "reality as virtual reality" with realworld avatars concept is interesting but preposterous - it makes the requisite "suspension of disbelief" impossible.
The villan was immediately obvious - no "ah ha" moment like they hoped.
Someone suggested it was a mix of The Matrix and I, Robot - only if the mix includes a 100 liters of Thorazine.
Normally likable Willis plays his surrogate self stiff as a mannequin and his real self as if sleepwalking – none of the usual glib action hero persona that's become his trademark.
Average - see it only at matinee prices or wait for Redbox.
Yates did an excellent job of rendering the book and making it less pedantic and dark and helping Harry appear less wimpy and Dumbledore less feeble than Rowling wrote it.
Bit more "atmosphere" than needed but Yates is an artist but he didn't let it become distracting or annoying the way Cuoron did in Prisoner.
Stylishly filmed, well acted, excellent pace, good amount of humor, and a script that feels like it improves on the book
Fairly funny with some good action - but except the scenes where Ben Stiller turns into Ninja Night Guard he mostly just phones in his performance - Amy Adams and Hank Anzera really carry the movie
This is without question the best Trek film of them all - excellent story, Kirk/Sulu/et al actors who can actually act, great special effects and sets - total win! You don't even have to be a Trek fan to like this movie - inside jokes and references aside, it's just an excellent sci-fi film.
JJ has redeemed himself after the going nowhere and unwatchable Lost and Cloverfield.
Excellent suspense flick with multiple twists - although apparently creativity in Hollywood is on the wane because this is another BBC derived experience - the movie is based on the 2003 BBC miniseries of the same name and replaces the BBC's evil energy monopolizing corporation with the current favorite US big bad Blackwater aka Starkwood (on 24) now called Pointcorp in this movie.
While not fan of Ben Aflleck's stiff one-dimensional performances, the script, direction, and excellent portrayals by Russell Crowe, Helen Mirrin, Jason Bateman, et al make this a must-see in spite of Affleck.
