I liked it, for what it was, a prequel but not in the same class as "Alien" or "Blade Runner", "Apocalypse Now" (story, emotional/mental impact). Perhaps I expecting too much, hoping too much from this Ridley Scott production. He has done so many great films but this is definitely a prequel and as such, script confined to telling a prequel story. Prequel, prequel, prequel. Why do I keep saying that?
Pros well paced, great actors

Imax, 3D. Imax was nice, 3D not so much. Sound was fantastic. Expensive movie ticket: $17.
If Potter fan, see it. If not a Potter fan, save money for better Imax, 3D.
Definitely a big screen movie or one that will not convey well to DVD.
Good: special effects.
Bad: 3 main character acting.

As to be expected, the special effects were amazing but I did not like the "over-the-top" acting, direction, of this movie. Some characters (Hammer and even Stark) were too plastic and actually unlikeable. Perhaps an effort was made to make it more like a comic book but that did not work for me. See it? Yes, if you like action and effects but a DVD rental will work fine for this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Slow & "dark". Not a children's movie at all. Underwhelmed. Just do not see why the fuss about this movie!

Wait for DVD Release

Typical Hollywood, no more or no less. Unfortunately, I judge all of this genre by "Blade Runner" and this is no "Blade Runner." If "Blade Runner" is a 10 and "12 Monkeys" is a 6 or 7, Surrogates is maybe a 3, stretch to 4. Action? Yes, but not non-stop. Thought provoking? Only mildly. Special effects? Yes, but not a lot of money spent here. Movie theater required viewing? Nope. A DVD rental will do for this one. Complaints? Heavy, heavy, orchestration soundtrack. Why? Why? Why? If I notice soundtrack, then it over done and the soundtrack for "Surrogates" is a real distraction. Would I recommend to a friend? In theater? Nope. When released on DVD, if nothing better available at the time.
