I loved the musical but nothing compared to the movie!! The settings were gorgeous and the tale wonderful. Meryl STreep was a joy to watch and listen to. Seeing Pierce Brosnan in this manner makes you realize the depth of him outside of James Bond. He was fun to watch and enjoy.

I have always been a big fan of ABBA. I was sure I'd enjoy the music but weary of how it would all fit together in a musical plot. Pierce Bronsnan singing?? Well my wife and I went to see the film and we had a wonderful time! Although the plot is somewhat far fetched it really works and the musical numbers all seemed to fit so well. We thoroughly recommend this film. It is lively, it is funny, and it is fulled with ABBA hits.

Once you accept that this is a campy, schlocky, not well-performed movie, you might be able to relax and have fun. I found myself wishing that Meryl Streep looked more attractive especially given the number of close ups and that Pierce Brosnan could have lip synched. At one point it looked like his head might explode while he was trying to sing. Yet, I still enjoyed the movie. It was exuberant, heartwarming fun and the music was mostly fabulous. I thought Christine Baransky was a scene stealer, especially with "Does Your Mother Know?".

Let me start by saying that I am not a "chick-flick" girl, but I absolutely LOVED THIS MOVIE! The singing, the dancing, the acting--absolutely brilliant. Seeing Stellan Skaarsgard singing and dancing--hilarious! I cannot recommend it enough. P.S.--Stay for the mini-concert at the end. It's worth it.

Saw the movie yesterday with the same friend I saw the play with. We loved both. True Pierce can't sing, but he is perfect for the role. Meryl Streep did a great job as Donna and her side kicks were a blast. Go see it, dance in the aisles and sing along, just have fun.

Poignant. Has all emotions but mostly happy. Wanted to get up and dance to the music. With everyone doing their own singing made it more real. Loved the stage production the movie production is better for a real switch, it expands it more. Plan to see it again and hopefully own it.

Some of the worst directing and even worse casting takes the already weak story (c'mon - the plot was written around ABBA songs!) and turns what should be a fun popcorn flick into one awkward scene after another. Watching Meryl Streep play a 40 year old who acts like an 18 year old gets tired pretty much after the first few scenes.
Go with low expectations and you will not be too disappointed.

I wanted a movie my Mom would enjoy and it fit the bill perfectly. She loved it and wants to see the play when she's in Vegas. Me... I love musicals and enjoyed the story line, the songs and singing were scattered between being OK to good. There were a couple of spots in the movie where it seemed to drag. I wouldn't want to see again and it will not become part of my DVD collection but I am not disappointed that I saw the picture.

I am NOT an ABBA fan, but I thought this movie was well done and quite enjoyable. I thought Meryl Streep was brave to take on the part that she did and felt she did an outstanding job. The song Dancing Queen was a highlight, but there were many parts that made me smile (and laugh out loud). The two people I went with (both female) enjoyed it as well. I could have lived without the PC 'twist' at the end, but the good outweighed the bad.

Loved it, loved it, loved it! So what if it's the first movie I've seen since "Dude, Where's my car?", it was still fantastic. All of the actors were surprisingly talented singers and dancers. The singing is just okay. Pierce Bronson seems to be yelling instead of singing and he looks to be in pain.
The acting and characters make up for the singing. They are all having fun and lots of it. Julie Walters has great comedic timing!!

I wanted to sing and dance the whole movie. What a wonderful showcase for three great ladies "of a certain age". Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, and Julie Walters were fantastic. This movie makes you want to jump up, grab a pretend microphone and sing and dance along with them. It is so much fun just watching all the characters have so much fun - getting silly - dancing on tables - jumping in the water - and singing their hearts out - all when they are troubled and don't know what to do. If only real life could be that way - it would be so cathartic! It would be hard for anyone NOT to like this movie. On a side note-to be totally honest-I don't particularly love the moral storyline of this movie-especially for my teen daughters. We're basically cheering on a woman who not only can't determine who her daughter's father is - having slept with three different men during the same time period. But she also never bothered to find out - depriving both her daughter of a father and a father of his right to know he has a child. Not a great message but no one really cared anyway. The music and fun makes you overlook the message of the story.

I loved the movie, as did everyone else in the theater. The reason for 4 versus 5 stars was Pierce Brosnon. James Bond should not sing!! Everyone in the theater would snicker when he tuned in. Other than that it was wonderfully happy!!

I went into the movie thinking I would like it and I loved it by the time it was over. I haven't seen the play, but I want to see it after seeing the movie. It is definately a girl movie, I wouldn't take my husband, but it was great for girls night.

This movie is good because it doesn't take itself too seriously. I was weary at first of seeing it because of all the bad reviews it got, but don't go into it looking for a serious musical. It's very funny and silly and it's clear that a good time was had by the actors as well as the audience- who clapped at the end. It makes you want to get up and dance or sing with your hairbrush as your microphone. I had a blast watching this movie!

I saw a touring production of this a while back and loved it, the film captured the live show very well. Meryl Streep was great, she seemed to be having a lot of fun with the character. While Pierce Brosnan can look cool just standing there he really cannot sing, though he was still great. All the parts were cast well, Amanda Seyfried (Sophie) was wonderful, Julie Walters (Rosie) was a blast and Christine Baranski (Tanya) was incredible as always. The story is simple but heartwarming. Some of the jokes can get a bit heavy on the sexual side, sometimes bordering on crude so younger audiences may be cautioned. However, all ages can enjoy the music of the film.

This movie was excellent! It had so much energy. The storyline a little confusing till the end. But the music and acting was great. Meryl Streep can really sing! She did an awesome job! Go see this movie! You will be dancing in the isles at the end.
