We were laughing out loud with the rest of the audience. Very funny summer movie. In addition to the top billed stars who all were excellent, plenty of fun cameos from David Sutherland, Bob Newhart and others. Jamie Foxx provided a lot of laughs.
Once you accept that this is a campy, schlocky, not well-performed movie, you might be able to relax and have fun. I found myself wishing that Meryl Streep looked more attractive especially given the number of close ups and that Pierce Brosnan could have lip synched. At one point it looked like his head might explode while he was trying to sing. Yet, I still enjoyed the movie. It was exuberant, heartwarming fun and the music was mostly fabulous. I thought Christine Baransky was a scene stealer, especially with "Does Your Mother Know?".
SATC was exactly what I had hoped with Jennifer Hudson as a surprise treat. I felt like I was catching up with old friends who are more interesting, open and successful than mine. I laughed and cried and believed in love again. I left the movie feeling more in love with my husband (who was one of the few men in the theater). The movie was as good as the HBO series as far as characters and storyline and the production values were increased for the big screen. Some moviegoers complained on the way out that it was too long or not any better than the TV series...but the whole theater seemed involved with the movie while it was playing. There were a lot of women cheering, laughing and crying. I fell back in love with New York City as it was gorgeously displayed on the screen.
