I remember when The Matrix came out - everyone was awed by the effects. Speed Racer gives us something new with the cool effects and I wonder what future movies will try to duplicate them. This movie had a great mix of animation and live action. And the overall SPEED of the movie is great - If you're thinking about seeing this, please do. But, hang on and watch carefully because you might miss something! Fast moving, and fun... Go, Speed Racer!

My husband and sons (9)(5) enjoyed it a lot. They had heard the reviews were bad, and went since my husband grew up with speed racer. They all ready liked it. My husband is easy to please with movies and thought it was great.

My kids were Speed Racer cartoon fans when they were young and because of them I watched a few expisodes. When the movie came out my son expressed his disappointment with the previews and stated he wouldn't see it. I took my 3 grandkids and we all loved it. We bought into the storyline and let it take us along for the ride. I even went out the next day and bought my grandson a Speed Racer T-Shirt and he wore it with pride yesterday. I called my son and told him it was worth seeing so he's making plans. Would I see it again........No!

My kids loved it. They are 8 and 11. It was a little confusing in the beginning but turned out to be very action packed. Not a lot of slow times. Pretty corney but again my kids loved it. It has a lot of color to it. I even felt motion sickness a couple of times with the back ground spins. I would recommend it if you have kids.

Despite the (entirely unearned) critical drubbing it took, the Wachowski's "Speed Racer" is a superb adaptation of the cartoon, capturing its essence without being condescending to the source material. The film is given a human heart through the performances of John Goodman (Pops), Susan Sarandon (Mom), and Emile Hirsch (Speed), who all manage to make one care about these people. The primary color palette used, combined with the adrenaline rush of the races themselves make the film exciting to watch. Enjoy... Go, Speed Racer, go!

Okay - PURE camp, but if you didn't expect that from the trailers you're blind! This movie was totally fun - my kids loved the racing, and so did both of us. There's some cool effects, and it's completely larger than life and full of shocking colors - and a corny, dramatic story line. But see this on the big screen - I suspect some of it's bang will disapate on a TV, even a 42" HD TV at home.

The mixed reviews that Speed Racer has been getting kept me away from it until today, and I am so glad that I finally went to see it. Speed Racer is a lot of fun, and a great feast for the eyes with the elaborate racing sequences. I think that this movie has been judged too harshly for being based on a kids' show, because when you just accept that aspect of it, it becomes a highly enjoyable show. The villian is an old-school kind of villain, like Snidely Whiplash, and stylisticly, the whole things feels like an old-fashioned Saturday morning cartoon, which I really liked. So anyone who wants to see Speed Racer, go for it, but remember what it is, and you will enjoy it more.

This movie was one that you don't want to get up and go to the restroom or go for a popcorn refill! It is a little hard to follow and if you leave I think you would be lost. Some very unappropriate items for a PG movie - flipping someone off - and several swear words that could have been left out. This is a fast paced movie that is scary. A family left during it because their kids were so scared. My husband who was a speed racer fan as a kid really enjoyed the movie.

I brought my 9 year old daughter to see Speed Racer. She loved it. It gave me a migraine headache. Special effects were good. Did alot of split screening similar to the cartoon series (which gave me the headache). For a PG rating, it had quite a few obscenities and gestures, which I did not care for. Had alot of corporate undertones which went over the kids' heads, but on the whole it was pretty action packed and enjoyable for the family.

The use of curse words (not many, but still very noticable to a 8 and 4 year old), I think should have given this movie a PG13 rating. I just can't get used to the idea that the movie makers think it necessary to use curse words in a movie so obviously meant for young children. The race scenes were amazing, and the cartoon feel of the movie was cool. The blatant message of branding etc., took up too much of the movie and was over the kids heads.

Corny, yes. But what do you expect? A movie so corny you're embarassed to admit you liked it. I was just disappointed that it barley held true to the original cartoon, but then again, what movie remake of a TV show does? The kids were rolling in the isles with some of the jokes. Overall, good movie!

went with my 10 year old and we both loved the movie. Not for kids under age 7 as there were many small children in the theatre that were not paying attention and were making alot of noise. The action was fantastic, the computer effects were awesome and it was actually funny in parts. I'll go see the sequel!

We really enjoyed this movie. Great messages about courage and integrity and family. The bad guys got a little nasty, but not bad. The race scenes were exciting and Spritel and Chimchim were very funny.

Any adult who grew up watching Speed Racer would like this movie, as would kids and teens. The racing graphics and animation were cool, but it was a little more futuristic than expected. The movie was very long (2 hrs 15 mins) and the middle dragged a bit. But overall, it is a 'good see' for what it is - a good representation of the old cartoon. Don't go expecting a great story line or you will be disappointed.

Took my 6 year old boy and we left in the middle it was so bad, HE even thought it was too much violence, fighting for a children's movie. He didn't like the movie at all, or myself, I thought it was just bizarre, and weird.

If you are going to take your kids you are just going to have to deal with the corniness. Because it is. However, there is plenty of action and visual candy to keep you interested. I would have liked it to be more like the cartoon I remember but they have to start somewhere. The problem is they probably won't make a sequel. There is only one scene that really brought me back to the fun and excitement of the original cartoon. (Scene with Racer X and the the crush truck) But, for the most part, the kids really, really enjoyed it even though they had to be dragged through the "corporate corruption overtones" which is beat over your head throughout the movie. Boys under the age of 10 will love this movie. If you don't do well with motion....stay home.

Growing up with the original Speed Racer cartoon, I was eager for this movie. It started out a little slow for me, but once the pace picked up, it was excellent. The biggest deviation from the original series was the Mach 6 of which there never was such a car in the original cartoon...I was expecting to see more of the Mach 5, but I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who just wants to escape from reality for a bit.

This movie is just as corny as the cartoon, which isn't a bad thing. I believe that young boys will really enjoy this movie. My 4-year old son did and wants to see it again. If you're a fan of cool cars and fast driving, then this is a good movie to see. It's also a good choice if you've got young ones and are looking for a movie. Since there aren't really any G or PG movies out right now, you're safe with this one.

It's a simple story - boy loves cars, girl loves cars, boy loves girl, boy hates big-soul-curshing business. What's not to like? Yes, it is simple. And it's about as nurtitional as a case of movie theatre candy. But it's bright and pretty and once you can kick back and go with the flow, it's one heck of a ride. The casting is perfect - the characters sound and look like the cartoon characters. There's a fight in the middle of the movie that is so Speed Racer it's scary. This is a mixed movie. As a fan of Speed Racer, I rate it between 4.75 and 5, but for someone that knows nothing about Speed Racer, I rate it between 3.75 and 4.25. I believe anyone can enjoy this movie as it will entertain and grip you in to the challenges faced by Speed and his family. This movie will make you laugh, cry, get angry, etc. One the other hand it is one of those movies set in an alternant reality that is also futuristic and I think it comes through as more than just a setting. Also, what is great for fans is that a little to fair amount of cheesiness is included and some of it is strong which keeps with the original series. The cgi is awesome and I only noticed one glaring issue which I think is awesome for a move with this much cgi. There were some minor things that could be seen as how things work in this futuristic reality. Go see this movie and think you’ll be surprised.

I thought this was an overall great movie. The graphics were great. The tracks were unbelievable though. I loved it, yes I would recommend it to the younger population.

This was a good movie, both of my teenagers loved it and we see alot of movies. They are 14 and 17 and thought it was a cool movie. Go see it, better than seeing lots of cursing to make something funny, not so funny. The color scheme was cool as well.

True to the roots of Speed Racer it was awesome. Emile Hirsh is so talented, he shines again showing he can be intense and dramatic as well as work with a Chimp. Go Trixie, a girl after my own heart. You Rock girl, and you get the guy!

This film was pure escapist entertainment, visually stunning, and a great adaptation of the original series! The racing sequences are astounding, and though the film is light hearted, it doesn't lack when it comes to good, interesting characters either.

Went with my 6 year old son. Very typical, very predictable, but very well done. Effects were nice and action scenes were well shot with plenty of dynamic angles and tight CGI. Would even see it again.
