Iron Man 2 might not be the best superhero sequel of all time but it is one of the better ones. When it's not thrilling us with action it's either showing us a fascinating character study or making us laugh. Don't expect it to surpass the original, just expect to enjoy it.
This is easily Quentin's best work since Pulp Fiction. It does for the S.S. what his early work did for gangsters: what do they talk about when they're not fighting the Allies? Movies and pastries and stuff...
Quentin excels with subtlety in this film which is more about espionage and deception than explosions and gunfire. Christoph Waltz easily steals the show as S.S. Colonel Landa, but the rest of the cast is terrific as well.
As for the historical accuracy, the beginning of the film says: "Once Upon a Time..." so if you're looking for an accurate WWII film there are hundreds to watch.
I always enjoyed the Angels and Demons book more than the Da Vinci Code, but I think the films are equally as good. However, there are certainly aspects to this one that I think are better. It has incredible cinematography, a compelling story, and I personally feel that it's respectful to all thoughts on religion. The church is treated with respect, as is the science aspect.
The best is definitely yet to come with the Terminator series, this movie is the first in a whole new trilogy which should be really good. The film has great, gritty action scenes but the Marcus Wright story is what gives it its heart.
This film, though certainly not as good for non fans, is the perfect adaptation of the graphic novel. The casting was perfect, and it's visually amazing. It is truly the height of what IMAX was meant to convey.
This movie is certainly difficult to watch at times, due to the extreme violence level, however this is very appropriate for the character. The film looks and feels exactly like the comic books that inspired it, which may lack the great storylines like those found in Iron Man or Spider-Man, but are interesting from the standing point that this hero is more of a monster than a man. Which is what makes him interesting, and they captured that really well.
This film is the perfect complement to Casino Royale. They're like two halves of the same movie. Where Casino was polished and romantic, this movie is rough and angry. Daniel Craig is fantastic as the revenge driven Bond: darker and more intense than he's ever been. If people want the smooth, suave Bond (which I also like) there are 20 movies of it, go watch them. But this movie delivers because of the new, more realistic direction.
There's no deeper meaning to this movie that I know of, but it follows in the footsteps of the first two by being a far above average adventure film. It's pure entertainment from beginning to end.
This film is completely over the top and unbelievable from the first few minutes, and that's what makes it so great. The action scenes are truly original, the story is intriguing, and the main character is unusually relatable.
The story is at times a bit too over the top, but it's all quite incidental really. It was wonderful to see Indy back in action, and Shia LaBeouf is a quickly rising star, this was my favorite performance of his. The style hasn't changed one bit from the other films, so when you sit down to enjoy the film, it's as if you never left Indy's world.
