it is amazing movie i love it a lot . but i hate the ending they should have done it better than that like let the family knows where is their dead son . my son and his friend who they are both 11 years old they were very happy with the movie and amazed . on the other hand my two girls were not that happy 4 years old fall a sleep in the middle of it so i think she was not into it . my 9 years old kept telling me mommy it is boring ( i think it is only made for boys) for me as a mom and not into boys stuff i loved it a lot . i know i will be buying the DVD as soon as it is in the store. good job but please change the ending please .

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie with my 8 yr. old. We took a friend of his and went to a big screen, so it would be loud and in our face. It was the best time I have ever had at a movie. I was expecting a movie with no real plot and just a bunch of special effects that my son and his friend would like. I was soooo wrong. The movie had a great plot, was very true to the original series, AND had great special effects. My son and his friend were laughing and cheering and there was enough character developement that I was interested and even cheering during the last race. The casting was perfect and I wasn't annoyed at any of the cartoon/real people issues that usually bug me in movies like this. I even thought Sprindle and Chim Chim were well played. If you were a true fan of the original cartoon and are still able to enjoy the kind of movie that you go see just for the fun of it, this was a GREAT movie. This was the best live action movie based on a cartoon that I have seen hands down. Take your kids and enjoy! I will see it again and definately buy it when it comes out on DVD.

What can I say, I took my two kids (5 and 6) to see it, and when we left the theater they both said it was the best movie ever! I enjoyed the movie as well, as I grew up watching Speed and the movie did a great job of making live action feel like the original cartoon.

Considering that the Wachowski siblings made the Matrix, which made character development into some sort of William Gibson meets Kafka area, you'd think that there would have been some sort of character development in this, but sadly no. This movie is utterly unwatchable, unless you are a hyper-sugared up 3-year-old. The editing is nonsensical, the story is non-existent, the entire thing looks like it is truly made of plastic. I feel like I just threw my money into a shredder. No, no, no. I would have given 0 of 5 stars if it was an option...

Well overall my 6 year old loved it. the racing action (when there was som) was great. However when it was slow it was painfuly slow for both him and me. The use of Curse words was too much it did not add to the movie what so ever. It could have been left out and there would have been no difference. Insted my son came away from the movie asking what an (A??) was, and that H?ll was a bad word why were they saying that and what did the little boy do with his finger in the elivator. PG 13 would have been a better rating. Knowing this was ment to be for the 5 to 10 year old audience with all the toys out it would have ben more appropreate to leave out the Cuss words. Overal dissapointed in the movie except for the racing that was a blast.

I never did get into the anime cartoon and was a little weary about going to see the movie. My son wanted to see it. The movie itself is very fast paced and has a world of vivd colors. You got to remember that this is a cartoon based movie. I give it an B+ based on that. The story is pretty good but the affects are way out there but very entertaining. Good movie .

This movie is great for preteen to teenage boys-- and thats about it. It is very fast paced and high in vibrant colors-- an ADHD paren't dream!! It definitely will hold your attention. The story line however is thin and it borrows very liberally form teh beloved cartoons ad anime that parents grew up with. It could have been more...but like a said, it is great for a way to spend a few hours with the kids (mostly boys) as it will keep them interested.

My son loved the movie. He is into cars of all sorts. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed to see Sprittle give the middle finger to an adult. For that reason, we won't be buying this movie when it's released on DVD and my son will be very disappointed. I do not want him picking that up! Other than that, it was a good movie.

I took my kids aged 5-13. Everyone loved the vibrant colors and the awesome action. It was suitable for all ages with the exception of a rare swear word- no more than they hear at school. The only think I would say negatively is that the story was a little complex for the little ones. I appreciated it though, having sat through numerous mind-numbing kids movies in the past.

Beautiful to look at, good story but the casting was terrible. John Goodman wasn't acting and he needed a bra. Susan Sarandon needed a filter and some personality and Christina Ricci was awful! I like most watched Speed Racer as a kid and as an adult thought the movie was ok. Maybe if we had sat in the back of the theater instead of our usual middle seats the animation would not have been so overwhelming. There were times I had to close my eyes or look away. We first saw the trailers at G rated movies we were taking our 5 & 8 yr olds to so we were very surprised to hear a couple of D*M, A*S, a bleeped S**T and someone flipping the bird. I realize this was a PG movie, but it is being put out there as a kids movie. And Yeah it was way to long on useless dialog.

The Wachowski brothers were true to their style in their making of this movie. Visually the movie was enchanting. But sadly, the story was not that true to the original. Although you could pick out bits and pieces from multiple episodes it lacked a continuity and meat. If you are a 6 year old boy...this movie was the best. 2hrs and 15min was a little long, could have been acomplished in an hour and half.

What a fun ride! This movie flies past with an exciting kaleidescope of color and fun action that doesn't stop from beginning to end.
I grew up watching the nascent anime including Astro Boy, Gigantor, and Speed Racer and really enjoyed the way the Wachowski Bros. captured the feel for the outrageous cars and fun of the original show.
It is painfully obvious the critic naysayers did not enjoy the original shows for what they were - fun! There were no heavy plotlines or very much angst - it's a cartoon for kids!
Go see this film - the entire family will enjoy the zipping fun, wonderful colors, and bigger-than-life bad guys and wacky monkey antics. I can't wait for the next one!

I thought Speed Racer was great. I was a fan of the t.v. show and the filmakers did a wonderdul job with this film, the characters, the cast, and the storyline. The graphics, colors and of course the cars, were fun to see. My son loved it as well. In response to another review, yes, there was cursing and a hand gesture, but the movie IS rated PG for "some cursing, etc". If you don't want your kid hearing cursing, then don't take them to a PG movie. That's why there are moving ratings. It was a great, fun movie!

The world of Speed Racer, meaning the effects and colors and craaaazy races are worth seeing on a big screen. However, the rest of the film is trash. The story is convoluted and tries way too hard. There is no sense of tension or danger. If you want to see shiny pretty things, by all means fork over your hard earned money to see this thing. If you want to care about a story and love/hate the characters, go support Iron Man. That film is about characters and is SUPPORTED by effects, whereas Speed Racer is only cashing in on wild visuals. A huge disappointment.

This movie was FUN. The plot was well presented and explained graphically and quickly with a fast and fun style. It was pure enjoyment throughout. Not one minute of boredom in the entire 2 hours and 15 minute show!

I thought the actors did a good job of playing reality in a cartoon world. A lot of the old was preserved but the races seemed to be never ending. I remember the cartoon characters solving crimes or rounding up the bad guys more than continuously racing. Several very young children in the audience were not impressed and got bored.
