Great if you did not read the book

I took my 12 year old son to this movie. i read the books, buut he did not read this one yet. (he read #3.). Loved the mythology but was disappointed that they left out major characters (Clarisse, Eres) and made it more Harry Potter-esque witht the map and stuff. On its own however it was good, the effects rocked and he enjoyed it -- which is all that matters.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great for any fan and non-fan alike

As a long time ST fan, I loved the film. Great story, great acting (the new cast had a lot of the nuances down of the poeple they were playing on the show). You dont have to be a fan to enjoy it as witnessed by my 12 year old son-- a true sci-fi fan. A MUST SEE

This movie transends generations~! Grandma loved it, the kids loved it ,and even my wife and I loved it. The plot is simple: Rich person's dog gets lost everyone trieds to find it as ithe dog to find its way home witht he help of soem friends. Throw in a jewelry heist (by a rat), dog fites, and a back drop of Mexico and Beverly Hills... Mahem occurs around every corner. Excellent!! Go see it!

This movie is great for preteen to teenage boys-- and thats about it. It is very fast paced and high in vibrant colors-- an ADHD paren't dream!! It definitely will hold your attention. The story line however is thin and it borrows very liberally form teh beloved cartoons ad anime that parents grew up with. It could have been more...but like a said, it is great for a way to spend a few hours with the kids (mostly boys) as it will keep them interested.
