What a treat on the Big Screen!! Superb story, excellent casting, dialogue and acting. The story remained true to the former TV/movie series with a few minor exceptions. The minor details in dialogue and scenes that they used to tie this movie to the former characters were interesting and exceptional. I'm a Star Trek fan from the start, and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It definitely earned a place in Star Trek lore.

This movie was refreshing and as I said great! Took my two boys' to see the movie and they were just setting on the edge of their seats. You know when you have seen a good movie when the kids were asking me on the way home all about the history of Star Trek. They are now Trekkie fans.
Looks like this is a begginning of another Triology or lead up to many more Star Trek movies, I will be heading out to the theaters more often if that is the case.

I am not a Trekkie. I have never seen a Star Trek episode from beginning to end, and I was around for the beginning.
I loved this movie. It is well cast, has great effects, great action sequences, and humor. Definitely worth the time.

LOVED the movie. It was clever, beautifully shot and well acted. The action never stopped and the story meshed well with Star Trek canon. My only complaint--where was the William Shatner cameo?
This is a MUST SEE. My 9 year old loved it too and was able to follow the story line having never seen the TV shows.

Right from the opening credits, the action never stopped ! I was a little worried when the future met the present ( won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet ) ... but it all came together: action, suspense, humor, old-school Star Trek one-liners, a GREAT storyline, some fantastic casting, and of course, 2 or 3 more Trek prequel flicks to look forward to. JJ Abrams has done it again !

Thought it was outstanding. My sons who had never watched the original Star Trek also completely enjoyed the movie. Would highly recommend it to anyone, but especially if you grew up watching Star Trek you will love it.

This is a very good movie. I am a casual Star Trek fan and it was fun to see the characters "before" the first series began. The actors were good and I really enjoyed the humor. Even those who haven't seen Star Trek before will enjoy it.

This movie was more than the hype. I was blown away by how well the movie was put together. It covered so much, without dragging out a history lesson. Also provided action that is definitely worth seeing multiple times!! Even if you've never liked Star Trek, after this movie you'll love it!!!!

This movie was amazing!! It's the perfect example of what a new movie can do to reenergize an old, beloved series by casting perfect actors (who have all clearly done their homework) and developing a smart, entertaining storyline. I'll be going back to see this one again and again! This is Hollywood done right.

This movie was very well done, not only in the special effects but the story line. The cast did a great job of honoring the 1st Enterprise crew and ship but mixed it with a more 2009 relevant look, attitude and pacing. It was brilliant and fully satisfying movie to watch. Bravo.

This movie is awesome from start to finish.
Previous to this movie, I'd never seen a single Star Trek movie but I decided to check it out since the reviews were so good. I am glad that I did. This movie has enough action to satisfy everyone but the underlying story is so solid that it will satisfy intellectuals also. Spend the money...see it in the big theatre so that you'll get the quality of the special effects!!! A great start to the summer action movies.

I was just so happy to be able to attend a Star Trek movie again after all this time. I missed them so much. I was further elated when I realized that I really liked the "new" characters. They were familiar enough but with a great fresh twist. I also appreciated the new special effects that make everything so believable. I am looking forward to more Trek movies that will take me where I have never been before. Hooray for J.J. Abrams for putting this together.

FANTASTIC MOVIE!!
I grew up watching re-runs of the original series. Never faithfully watched any of the other TV shows. But, I am a sci-fi fan.
When they first show the Enterprise, I got chills. Wanted to jump and shout when the Enterprise saves the day at the end.
I think Abrams and the writers did a great job with the story so that they can be free to do what they want with the characters in future movies. But, they did a GREAT job staying true to the characters themselves.
Simon Pegg as Scotty was my favorite, I think but all of the actors did a great job.
Again, great for fans and even those who don't know much about Trek but like a good action movie in space.

Attended with husband and 19 and 14 year old sons. Interesting event for Mother's Day - but actually a great family movie. Action packed - good characters, plot, special effects and a Spock romantic interlude - what else could you want!! Over 2 hours long - so you actually walk away thinking you got what you paid for - oh and you are pretty much exhausted as well....

Though Star Trek is far from the best sci-fi flick in recent years, it was an easy-to-watch and entertaining movie. Though my wife and daughters generally hate all sci-fi movies, the early positive reviews somehow made them think this movie was worth the cost of admission. So, on Mother's Day, and at my my wife's request, we went as a family to Star Trek - which is the kind of movie I am used to watching alone. The bottom line is that it's a fun movie, nothing too serious, with a convoluted story line that requires one to suspend all logic and reason. Fun PG13 entertainment.

It's too bad that J. J. Abrams didn't direct Episodes I - III of Star Wars. Then, maybe, there wouldn't be millions of angry fans out there.
I've never been a Trekkie, but did enjoy a movie or a episode here and there. This movie was superb.

Fantastic! Been a Trek fan for many many years since watching Next Generation with my dad then going back and watching The Original Series. Couldn't have asked for a better movie. Plenty of action and humor, 2 of my favorite things. Story was great, it's interesting to see the past rewritten and leaves it open to see what will become of the crew after this reality altering experience. J. J. Abrams please direct if there's going to be a 2nd!! Live long and prosper!

I'm thrilled that they made a movie that did not disappoint! I was uncertain if the young actors in this movie could live up to the "Kirk" and "Spock" we all know and love and I truly believe that they did! I have watched Star Trek in all of its iterations since I was 6 years old. This re-boot is INCREDIBLE and exactly what was needed. J.J. Abrams has, with this film, done what seemed impossible - he's blended the old with the new and emerged with a refreshing, whitewater ride of a movie that boosts the adrenaline while giving techies a treat for the mind (red matter?).
To all the old-school trekkies who wanted a "talkier" picture and nitpick this or that characterization: you are impossible to please and I'm glad I don't have to listen to your dry, wheezing arguments in person.

J.J. Abrams DID NOT disappoint! Great cast, heart-pounding action sequences and the old-school catch phrases were slipped in brilliantly. Bones was a little over the top, but didn't put a damper on the film one bit. And it was the perfect length. Anymore than the 2 hours it was and I think it would've been spoiled. I will DEFINITELY be seeing this again...and again...and again (and I'm not even a Trekkie!)!

Whether you're a Trekkie or you think Spock was the guy who wrote baby books, there's plenty of action and laughs here to keep you interested. Even if you have no idea who these people are, the film strikes just the right mix of exposition, action and character development. The sets are wonderfully rendered mixtures of Classic Trek and new 21st century design sensibility (the costumes too, mostly) and unlike past Trek outings, the multi-cultural, -racial, and -planetary crew feels truly integrated and commonplace. (And if you've been gnashing your teeth for months that "JJ Abrams is RUINING EVERYTHING", rest assured that the movie itself addresses the changes and makes them feel organic even to this die-hard Trek purist.)

An excellent Sci-Fi adventure, whether young or old, whether you're a staunch fan or newcomer to the story. Frankly, to keep the franchise going I think they needed to return to the power of Roddenberry's original characters. They did this with excellent casting. As a kid, I watched the original broadcasts on TV. I have loved it ever since, and this movie did not disappoint. References all the way back to the original pilot were wonderful. Adding Nemoy was great, and gracefully done, as he deserves. Go see it.

The building of Kirk's character was good for the Trekkies and those who had never seen the show will follow the dialog and the action. Not sure how the Romulan vessel "wessel" ever flew. It wasn't the most aerodynamic space ship. Great movie from start to finish. The young actors picked for the cast were right on.

Being from the original viewing generation I went in with low expectations. I took my teenage daughter (she loves Zachary Quinto) and we were both glued to our seats during the entire experience. We both loved it so much we took my wife the next day to see it and she liked it so much she took her Mom on Mother's day to see it. We all really enjoyed J.J Abrams take on the classic series. Well Done!

Fast paced, excellent plot, great fx and kept to the original characters, as much as was needed...Bones was excellently portrayed, as were the rest of the characters, Kirk maybe not as much, but done well and by the end, we could see pieces of Kirk really showing. I agree the set up for another movie is here as there are at least three huge elements still left unanswered (and probably more) or different than the current timeline we grew up with. Highly recommend for all fans, new and old!
