Overall, I enjoyed this movie as much as I enjoy the original series. However, it would have been nice if Chris Pine could have watched at least 1 episode to prepare for this role. It's not bad enough he doesn't look the part, He could have at least acted it.

I think this movie was great. It was action filled and funny in the right mix. The Dr Mccoy, Spock and Jim Kirk younger selves were really believable as to what they would grow up to be.
Everybody should go, I'm going again.

The actor selection for this movie was the best! It was great to watch an action movie that also had great acting. I would recommend this movie to anyone, but Trekkies are definitely going to love this one!

I am surprised that any fan would be less than completely excited about this film. Yes, this is 2009 and of course one would expect contemporary special effects! All the actors carried their roles excellently and as former fan of the "old timers", the new. beginning generation fit the mold perfectly.
Great movie, I can't wait for the DVD and sequels to come out!

My mother and I are both original series fans, and we loved it. My 2 girls (16 & 8) did not know much about Trek and both loved it as well. It kept enough of the fun stuff the OS was so good at, while making it relevant to a new generation. One of the best movies I have seen - can’t wait to do it again.

the writing really surprized me the way they brought disparate and diffifulct script situations into wonderful harmony while staying consistent with Trek Lore was simply mezmerizing. I particularly enjoyed the energy of the main characters, they were perfect--except for the kissing scene in the transporter, that just did NOT fit at all.

I grew up watching Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as the original series and was excited as well as apprehensive about this movie coming out. I am a huge fan and was very nervous that J.J. Abrams would screw it up but I was blown away by this movie. The casting was fantastic, I don't think they could have done a better job if they tried. Karl Urban was absolutely exceptional as Bones, absolutely wonderful. I have already seen the movie twice and am planning on seeing it as many times as I can on the big screen. Fans of the series as well and newcomers will love this movie and it is not something to be missed on the big screen.

I was very impressed with this movie. The CG was phenomenal to say the least. The story line was terrific, I do not think that this series could have been revived with a new cast in any other fashion. It pulled Star Trek out of the old days, but yet remained true to the characters. I will be seeing it again before it leaves theaters. There may have been a couple of corny or quirky things, but that is classic Star Trek, not to mention the rest of the movie was so superb that they were pretty much over looked. Our showing received a standing ovation, more than I can say for any other Star Trek movie showings of the past. Oh and dear mother of all that is good..... The new Captain Kirk can beam me up anytime LOL!

This is the best Star Trek movie that has been done-bar none. However; I don't get the pitch that the movie was made for non-trekkies too. My feelings about the movie were directly affected by my past knowledge of the earlier Star Trek series. I just don't think non-trekkies would be able to follow it. Also the time travel story was confusing for me and will require me to see it at least once more. Finally, the sub plots were intriguing; especially bringing all the favorite characters of the past together and intermeshing them in the story

I would highly recommend this movie to all my friends and family. From the beginning to the end it was full of action, laughs, and sad parts. The entire cast was awesome in the roles they played. Could not have been better. I am going to see it again!

As a fan of the original, I really enjoyed it. They really did a really good job of casting for "Spock". I thought he looked very much like a very young Nemoy. It was interesting how key roles were very close to their original in traits and expressions. My wife was not a big fan of Trek, so most of the nuances were lost to her, and that's too bad. This should start a whole new "generation" of Trek fans. I just hope they dont try remake the old episodes.

Exciting from beginning to end, this quality action flick pays enough homage to the original series without shoehorning the film into a formula that had grown stale.
Several allusions throughout the film tie it into the Trek universe, but in ways that feel fresh and might even surprise if you don't remember your Trek lore.
This is an origin story done right, with disparate characters brought together believably in a crisis, bonding through it with courage, sacrifice and humor.
An excellent actioner and a refreshing take on the Trek universe that still manages to honor its source material. Abrams pulled off quite a feat.

The movie is entertaining, but needs to be viewed as revisionist history if you're a serious fan of the old. Take if for what it is; overdone, bombastic, full of needless special effects, the stuff audiences expect these days. Ah, well. Same thing happened in comics around 10 years ago to attract new readers, recycling old characters with fresh origin stories, etc. It's still entertaining.

Took the whole family to this one and we all enjoyed it. I had a tough time with the fight scenes, I prefer explosions and sci-fi gunfights but I was the only one in my family who had my eyes shut and ears plugged while they were beating the daylights out of one another. My youngest is 10 and he wasn't phased by any of that but I wouldn't recommend taking a child younger than that to this movie. I think you should definitely see this one on the big screen before it goes to DVD. Enjoy!!

Great Movie.I was not a huge trekkie but the way they incorporated all the little familiar quotes and scenes were done well.The characters stayed true to the originals,and who didnt give out a big cheer when Lenord Nemoy came on the screen????? Great plot too,and I especially liked the dead silence during some of the outer space scenes.Now of course I have to rent the originals to rewatch!

I am a huge Fan of the Star Trek universe. This movie was amazing- exactly what I was craving for years. Finally, they revitalized the franchise. Incredible cast, story and special effects. Way to go JJ. Thank you, Paramount for giving a chance to Star Trek once again. I love the different timelines concept and the possibilities it opens. I strong believe it needed to be done for the Star Trek survival. I can't wait for the next movies!

I heard that there was a lot of "inconsistent" details for anyone who knows the in and outs about Star Trek. There are some twists to the original story line but, I completely disagree. The story line completely fits and explains those "details" that are "off".
The casting choices were done very well. Each actor pulling off their characters beautifully. I was hesitant to pay to see this one. After the show though I almost went back in to watch it again. Excellent.

I was very impressed with the way that Star Trek turned out, I enjoyed it very much. The series was around a couple of generations before me, so I didn't know much about it, but I am definitely a fan now! Of course, it did not stay entirely true to the original series, so Star Trek fans who are hoping to see Spock and Kirk exactly as they were in the old days might be disappointed. But don't just take my word for it! I personally look forward to going and seeing it for a second time.

I loved this movie. It was fun, it had an understandable storyline (unlike many action movies that are hard to follow), had great special effects, humor and fun "aha" moments related to the TV show. And of course, then there was Leonard Nemoy. This is one I'll see again. My 13-year-old daughter loved it, too, but my 11-year-old son didn't. I think the story wasn't of interest to him or he didn't follow it, and the effects not enough to make up for that.

I don't say this often because it doesn't happen often but, I want to go see Star Trek again!!! I have never in my life been someone who sees a movie several times in the theater. I enjoy the novelty of seeing movies in the theater but it is not something that I feel I need to repeat with the same one. Star Trek is a different case. Having been a fan of the original series, The Next Generation, and the movies, I must admit I was skeptical. In fact, I went in expecting to feel that JJ Abrams had ruined the franchise. I was gladly proven wrong. Geekdom, I have arrived!!

This movie delivers story, character, and great special effects - in that order. Most movie goers are familiar with the Star Trek characters, but that is not required. This is 100 times better than the lame Star Wars "pre-quels". Enjoy it!
