This movie was much more than I expected in a Trekky movie... excellent story line, awesome special effects and the "surprise appearance" was great! I was on the edge of seat during the entire movie. They broke the Star Trek mold with this one. Excellent! You do not need to have a background of previous Star Trek films to enjoy this one.

This is a *great* movie. On top of that, it's a great Star Trek movie as well. I'd recommend it even to friends who don't particularly know or even like Star Trek; it's *that* good of a movie.
There are only two types of people who would dislike this movie:
1. People who don't like movies at all.
2. Those with an unhealthy attachment to Star Trek canon.
If you're not one of those two types, prepare for Warp 10, because this movie is one of the best I've watched in a long time.

Absolutely fabulous!!!! It is a must see for everyone. Great special effects, characters, story line, all of it was great! They kept the some of the original details yet set the stage for some new things they can add in. I know this is the start of something fantastic!!!

It has been a long time since I paid movie house prices. It has been a long time since I wished a movie would not end. This was such a movie, well worth the price to see it on the 'big screen'...one of the rare movies that needs to be appreciated that way. I loved this movie. Absolutely blown away with the character development, the story line was perfect, my hat off to each actor/actress for their obvious devotion to getting to know their parts. I am out of ways to describe this experience, except to say MORE... PLEASE... MORE.

Some trekkies will be angry about the direction this film took. But if it hadn't left the series with a clean slate, the film would've been an end to the franchise; with nowhere to go but rehashing the old episodes. It (re)introduced the characters and set the stage for a new gen of Trek fans; many of whom haven't seen the last 40 yrs of storyline and now have a reason find out where it really all started. For all the hardcore who feel like the last 40 yrs got thrown out the window by this film, try and remember that this film adds to the overall mythos of the franchise; it isn't nullifying anything we already know and love, it simply gives us a new "what if" branch to add to the tree of Star Trek canon. Go see this film if you haven't!

Best Star Trek movie ever! I was completely enthralled and could not believe 2 hours had gone by when it was over. They captured the personalities of the characters spot on. I was afraid they would not get it, but they did! Do not miss this movie. The action was better than Iron Man!

I saw this movie with my best friend, and we both loved it. I'm a Star Trek fan from childhood, and he is NOT, and yet the movie exceeded both our expectations. I loved it for the well crafted backstory, and how the characters we saw on screen slowly became the characters we know from the first TV series. He loved it for the action, the character development (even if you DON'T know them from TV) and the excellent pacing. Bring fans, bring non fans, everyone will have something to enjoy with this film!

The 1st thing that I noticed was that you don't have to be Trekker to enjoy this movie. It has appeal to both the average movie viewer and members of the Trek Universe. True Trekkers may have some problems with the continuity but die-hards will understand how the writers explain it away. The only real issues I had was with Spocks' character - not actually "true" to the original but was developed so well that it could be overlooked. Overall I'd say the reboot was a great success and look forward to the continuation of the franchise!

My husband is a big time Star Trex fan, me, not so much. However, I did love this one, and I will purchase the DVD for my husband when it comes out. I did not expect to like it, I thought it would be very much like the others and I was pleasantly surprised. I honestly cried at the beginning. Great. Kahn will always be my favorite however.

The writers missed the point with basis of what Star Trek was about. The original characters strengths were dismissed and given over to characters that were losers and disappointments. My husband put it well when he said it appeared kids wrote this story. There was no story line continuity. Even the details of the make up and set were sloppy. Spocks ears kept changing through out the movie. Regular PDAs were plugged in on the consoles. How hard would it be to design something that look futuristic. Even the ending dialogue, with which is repeated on every Star Trek taking, was altered to make it politically correct. A big disappointment.

Time for a Star Trek rant, just got back from the movie. I used to go to Star Trek movies w/ hope for a good one & left w/ some dissapointment on all but Khan. Based on reviews & previews I went in w/ high expectations. It was BRILLIANT. It is at a completely different level than all other prior ones. It was an 11 out of 10 from plot, to actors, to effects. BEYOND PERFECT! Denny would be proud of the Cupcake!

Highly recommended for Trekkies and non Trekkies alike. Some inconsistencies with the TV series story lines, but this may lead to a sequel to fix those clearly wrong scenarios.
Kirk and Spock seem to change roles for most of the movie but this adds to a fresh take on the charactors and will help them mature into the standards that they will come to know. I loved the surprise guest. You'll just have to see it to find out.

This is the movie you've been waiting for Star Trek to have. It's a movie that lures in both those who have always followed Star Trek-i.e. trekkies- as well as those who know very little to nothing about Star Trek at all. I must admit I was very skeptical going in to see the movie after the last two Star Trek movies were complete failures and disappointment. I'm pleased to say that thinks to J.J. Abrams we have perhaps the best Star Trek movie ever and certainly worthy of a sequel. Go see it if you haven't already.

This movie was not only entertaining, well-acted, well-scripted, and well-directed from beginning to end, but the all-new cast did a noteworthy job of portraying characters that we've known for years. To be honest, I wasn't altogether sure I'd like Zachary Quinto (Silar, from "Heroes") playing Spock, but he made a very, very good Spock. The movie made you laugh, grit your teeth, duck, and cheer. I'll not only see it again, I'll own it when it comes out on DVD. It was that good!
