The movie was excellent! Really had me on the edge of my seat on several occasions. Both Denzel Washington and John Travolta developed their respective characters incredibly well. The only down side is as great an actor asTravolta is he just can't sell the "MF" bomb! Nobody drops the "MF" bomb like Samuel L. Jackson. Character - great, choice of expletive - questionable. All in all - a summer must see!!
The 1st thing that I noticed was that you don't have to be Trekker to enjoy this movie. It has appeal to both the average movie viewer and members of the Trek Universe. True Trekkers may have some problems with the continuity but die-hards will understand how the writers explain it away. The only real issues I had was with Spocks' character - not actually "true" to the original but was developed so well that it could be overlooked. Overall I'd say the reboot was a great success and look forward to the continuation of the franchise!
I, too, thought that the acting at times seemed to resemble that of a big budget high school production, but the real meat of the message quickly over-rode all other short comings. Kirk Cameron's character took me through a range of emotions, some at times quite painful. I think every married couple, married 2 weeks or 20 years should see this movie. It really drove home the point that love is not a feeling or something that we fall into. It's a choice. An absolute great date night movie.
This was the funniest movie I've seen in several years!! The cameos were perfectly placed. The beginning sequence was totally unexpected. I almost got as lost in Robert Downey Jr.'s character as he was!! I have to go see this movie again because at times the laughter was so loud in the theatre that I missed some lines. And when TC began to "bust a move" I began to bust a gut!! Ben Stiller is displays comic genius, much like his parents. To be so many heavy hitting stars in this movie nobody seemed to step on each other. RUN, DO NOT WALK TO YOUR LOCAL THEATRE AND SEE THIS MOVIE!! NOW.....I MEAN STOP READING THIS, CUT OFF THE COMPUTER, AND GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!
