I really love the twist of time travel and little change of how they became to be in the position of the old. Also I like seeing original Spock in th movie as future Spock. It was little surprising to see th romance of Spock and Uhura. We thought it was Uhura and Kirk. I am definitely buying the DVD when it comes out...

This movie really exceeded my expectations. Before the opening credits you are riveted into your seat. The action never stops and the characters are fully developed in a new way that compliments the original series.
The movie is suitable for children - it has a few curse words, the most foul being bull ***. There is minimal kissing - one scene is in bed with underwear on - that is the scene in the trailer. The violence is not bad at all - some hand to hand, no gorey parts either.
The story line is brilliant and I really appreciate the talents of JJ Abrams after seeing this.
Probably the best movie I have ever seen topping my all time favorites of Star Wars and any of the Indiana Jones movies.

As a child during that time, we never missed Star Trek. I've seen every movie and watched every TV incarnation. I LOVED THIS MOVIE and thought it was terrific; the acting, the shooting, the story line, the direction. 2 HUGE THUMBS UP. VERY well done...! I was really pleased! I'd head such great things and knew I was going to be dissapointed; but that was not the case at all!

I went with my Dad who is a huge Trek fan and was pleasantly thrilled at how great this movie was. One of the best I have seen in awhile! The young cast does such justice to the original characters it is scary. The action scenes were fantastic and there is humor tossed in at appropriate places! I am not a "Trek Fanatic" but LOVED this movie!

This is an impressive effort, from great casting to well done action and character development. The effects were also quite good. However, having grown up with the original TV series (ok, so I'm an elder statesman!) I didn't care for the destruction of Vulcan -- totally unnecessary (could have been a Vulcan colony planet where Spock's sister lived) and creates a "franchise paradox" . Support the need to rejuvenate to franchise, but this was a little over the top.

I really enjoyed this movie. Not necessarily because it was "Star Trek" but because this is a well made Movie. If you are looking for something that religiously follows the old Star Trek MO, then you will be disappointed. Do not see this movie if your expecting the same old Star Trek. This is a variation upon the original Star Trek. By itself this is a good movie. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars is because there were a few unexplained plot twist left unanswered, not to mention how they explained how the whole story line was able to happen.

While not much of Trekkie, I looked forward to seeing this movie because of my general interest in the TV series and having seen all of the previous Star Trek movies. Also, the idea that this would start before the time of the original Star Trek series and create a new mythololgy to help explain and elaborate on the existing series, was quite intriguing to me.
I must say, after having seen it, that it was successful in fulfilling all of my hopes and expectations. Possibly more, as now I can rewatch the earlier series and movies with this new set of historical contexts in mind and see how well they play out after the fact in those pre-existing shows. Bravo to JJ Abrams and the subperb cast on a job well done

I was very pleased to find that this movie was AWESOME! Special effects, plotline, eveything was great. I was ecspecially pleased with how the writers set up the history of each character showing the audience what they were like when younger. If you can take advantage of IMAX, it's worth it.

This movie veered way too far from the Star Trek theme. It was more like an Indiana Jones in space with way too many special effects. It was convoluted. This is by far the best Startrek movie of them all. The new timeline is not only AWESOME, it begins a completely brand new generation of Startrek with only some minor ties (Spock) to the original storyline.
The original cast started everything, but very few of them were REAL actors. Which is why I am sure that Shatner wasn't worked into this movie in any way. The current cast is nothing but AWESOME, and there were times that I just couldn't stop laughing. If you have seen the original pilot, "The Menagerie", and the original series, you will know from the beginning that things have changed. ENJOY THEM!

Voyager was more original, had better sound and visual effects. All these pretty no-emotion/no-charisma actors will go back to their soap operas or XXX rated movies they came from. Absolutely nothing new to see...Story was clumsy, hard to follow. This comes from someone who managed to follow those 3 hours of excellent Dark Night movie!

This movie was non-stop entertainment. There is plenty of action, thrilling dog fights, sword fights and the like but it is pure entertainment that does not keep you thinking once the screen goes dark and it is also not very original. The movie is a remix of the plotlines, and dramatic scenes that have worked in the past. A mad man is out to destoy planets, a beloved character sacrifices his life to save others, time travel, fists fights and swordfights.

This was the best Star Trek movie ever! Zachary Quinto was a perfect choice for Spock! All the actors were really good fits, loved McCoy, Scottie and Chekov! Great story and action. Not for young tweens who have never watched Star Trek though, my 12-year old and his friend were bored!

This movie has something for everyone.
As a Trekker, I found the movie premise very 'Trek', and done very well. The cast and crew were able to present a new angle on the story while keeping an eye on canon Trek. All in all a solid Trek movie.
And for all the other fans (my 10 year old son), it is a great sci-fi shoot em up. Lots of action, lots of character. A solid, old school, space flick. He thought it was one of the best movies he had ever seen.
Job well done.
Waiting on the next one.
