Certainly revives the Star Trek franchise

This is an impressive effort, from great casting to well done action and character development. The effects were also quite good. However, having grown up with the original TV series (ok, so I'm an elder statesman!) I didn't care for the destruction of Vulcan -- totally unnecessary (could have been a Vulcan colony planet where Spock's sister lived) and creates a "franchise paradox" . Support the need to rejuvenate to franchise, but this was a little over the top.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
