You will be really entertained for most of the 2 hours you are watching it. If you were a video game geek in the 80s, you will really enjoy the entire look of this movie. And the same with early Japanimee cartoons such as Voltron.
The creativity is amazing, but after 2 hours of the same fight scene, it got a little tired to me. It's basically Mortal Combat, combined with Atari games, with anime fight scenes.
I think this is more of a rent, not spend $10 at the theater. I enjoyed Juno, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist much more for the enjoyment and story.

This movie rocked. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, but it was interesting throughout and held my attention which says a lot. I drank too much soda but wouldn't leave to go to the bathroom because I didn't want to miss anything. The video game theme was clever, and it had some depth to it. It's not just a silly, slapstick movie. I am glad I saw this.

THEY MADE IT LOOK LIKE A VIDEO GAME!!! HOW AWESOME WAS THAT???
Plus, the movie was X-TREEM-LY funny. And I know it was funny because I wasn't the only one laughing in the theater. People were laughing every 2-5 minutes. This movie is so good.
I had low expectations because here we have Michael Cera playing the loser trying to win the love of a hot girl. He's been playing that same guy since his rise to stardom in "Superbad." Think about it: "Youth in Revolt," "Year One," "Nick and Norah," even "Juno." And so far he hadn't completely nailed any of those roles. At least not until now.
You see, in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," you are witnessing Michael Cera as funny as he's ever been since "Superbad." You also get a great performance from female lead Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Scott Pilgrim's dream girl, Ramona Flowers.
And on top of all that genius, you put a MUSICAL genius to make the music of Scott Pilgrim's band, Sex Bob-Omb: Beck. Yes, the Beck who made 90s hits such as "Loser" and "Where It's At," and now is doing all sorts of genres of music. When doing the music for Sex Bob-Omb, they sound a bit punky alt-rock-y. Which is good. God, I wish Sex Bob-Omb were a real band. Or at least Beck could do an album with music inspired by the sound he gave the band in the movie. That would be great 'cuz I'm a big fan of Beck.
"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" makes "The Godfather" look like "Gigli."
Overall Grade: 84%

I thought the beginning was a little less epic as I'd hope it'd be, but still in it's own way it was pretty epic. This movie is hilarious. I took my friend to see this and he didn't want to, he ended up loving it! That's how good it was! The humor and timing was perfect, the editing and special effects especially were amazing! I hate Michael Cera too, and I thought he was great in this movie! Definitely introduced a unique and incredile genre of filmmaking. Scott Pilgrim is a must see!

I have to give this movie some respect for pulling off what easily could have been a major disaster. It basically is a comic book movie that plays out like a video game with likable characters and hilarious dialog. Mix that with over-the-top action, flashy effects, and awesome music that manages not to annoy. You don't have to like video games to enjoy the movie, nor will the humor be lost on you. Really, there's something for everyone. Me and my wife watched it together and we both enjoyed it often laughing for different reasons at the same scene. I hope more people go see it because I would love to see more movies like this with some originality. It may not be anything like you'd expect, but it doesn't disappoint either.

Wow! This movie was much better than expected. I expected a quirky movie, for sure, but it was so well executed and far more over the top than expected... and in a pleasant way.
It was very much like a video game - the previews made it out as such, and I was expecting it - but usually it's a half hearted, poorly executed attempt - but whoever wrote the script knew video games well and also knew how to translate that into a movie.
It was great and I would recommend it if you enjoy games at all and if you enjoy quirky movies at all. Definitely a must see.

I had never heard of SPvsTW until Comic Con, which got me interested. Went to a mid-night screening with friends who were fans of the books and Edgar Wright, my mind was Blown! Nice quirky little movie. Have to pay attention a bit to follow some of the odd location changes, doors appearing out of no-where, walking through a door and being in a totally different location.
Special effects and fight scenes were very well done.
Tons of video game references. Lots of fun.

Well written, skillfully performed, this high speed romp will suck you back into your 8 bit Nintendo, and remind you what going on a Quest was all about! I have to admit that I had my HUH?! moments but overall it was a good movie. It's a movie that keep the surprise coming. The music was great and it was super cute. This movie starts out with a laugh and keeps you laughing and entertained right till the end. It's an awesome blend of pop culture from video games, to comic books & anime. I thought it was one of the freshest and most entertaining movie I've seen in years.

Must admit I had low expectations for this movie and this may have influenced my favorable review. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire film - cast, acting, dialogue, cinematography, plot, characters, pacing, action scenes, etc. - especially the "quirky little bits" that were sprinkled all throughout the film. This is more than just a movie for comic book geeks and teenagers. It is well-suited for any adult to relish and enjoy and I recommend that you seek it out. I kept thinking that it was a shame that Frank Miller had not used the same flow and technique for The Spirit. It would have served that movie well. A fun, original movie that will make you think a bit as well. See it!
