I took my son for his 11th birthday and his brother who is 13 and my friend. We had a blast! It was non-stop laughter and the 3-D viewing was definately the way to go! I highly recommend this movie for all ages it is definately worth the time and money!

No this movie does not faithfully follow the book (which we loved), because that would have made for a 15 minute film.
We went for a night out, without hopes too high, but were pleasantly surprised. It was one of the best kids movies we've seen this year. Nice animation. Good characters. And no nastiness, or gratuitous villains. For film-loving parents, there were even a slew of sly references to classic movies over the years (e.g. Kubrick's 2001) that were fun, but not overdone.
Well worth the ticket, even with the surcharge for 3D glasses!

The movie did not follow a perfectly delightful book that we read many times to our children. The book was very gentle and fun and just a story of imagination. The movie has scary adults and I think it would scare young children. So I found it disappointing.
Of course it includes all the Hollywood clever techniques but it doesn't represent the book at all.

I thought this was a great film to take the family too. We had the kids with us and the grandparents in town visiting, and everyone enjoyed it. There were plenty of laughs and moments each of us could relate to. You know it's a good time when you're walking out the car still laughing and repeating lines from the film. The 3D went seamlessly with this film, and I recommend watching it that way.

My wife and I took our daughter and a friend of hers (both five) to see this movie. They were engaged the entire time, really enjoyed the story and laughed quite a bit. My daughter is pretty easily scared in movies, and she got through this one pretty much unscathed.
The 3D effects were amazing. I haven't seen a 3D movie in a long time, but they have come a LONG way!
Very enjoyable for kids and easy for adults to sit through.
