This is a fun movie full of lots of action. Robert Downey is a bit over the top as usual, and the slow motion/stop motion thing gets a little tired after a while. It also would have been nice if they had kept Rachel McAdams around a bit longer. But overall, good fun.
Ok, a little smaltzy, but a great family movice, especially if you have younger kids. The dolphin is adorable, the kids are cute, and the story is uplifting. What more could you ask for. Not sure if it'sworth springing for 3D, but certainly worth seeing the movie.
This is a great movie. Great special effects, wonderful acting from some very young stars, and a very good story. Parents should be warned about some of the language that comes from the mouths of these babes. But overall, I'd still recommend it to families with kids 12 and up.
Yeah, it's corny and predictable, but the special effects are well done and you just have to love Ryan Reynold's enthusiasm. It's a fun movie. Suspend disbelief (in fact, take it in the back and stomp on it), get some popcorn and sit back and enjoy. Take the kids, there is (thankfully) very little that is inappropriate. You may find yourself laughing at some parts that weren't meant to be funny. But who cares, it's the Green Lantern, and my 12 year old is still running around reciting the Lantern pledge two weeks later.
If it's lot of action you're looking for, this is certainly the movie for you. It's a bit long, but preteen and teenage boys, and grown men who still act like teens, will be very happy to sit through it all.
I didn't quite no what to expect going in, but I really enjoyed this movie. There were some genuine laugh out loud moments, and being a writer, I found Rango's ove-thought and overly literate reponses to even the simplest question a hoot. However, although my 12 year old loved it, most of the movie was well over the heads of younger children. Still, the visual humor seemed to be enough to keep a theatre full of young kids happy, and everyone had a good time.
You may have a little trouble understanding Jeff Bridges through the huge chaw of tobacco, but this is one western well worth the ticket price. Well written, well shot, and well acted, it reminds me of westerns I saw as a kid.
This is one action movie that is great for the whole family (although very young kids may not understand a lot of what's going on). It has action, and tension, and drama, and stuff blowing up, but without the gutter mouth that seems to accompany far too many PG-13 movies these days. I highly recommend it.
I read the critics' reviews and I was a little concerned, but there was no need. This was a great action flick. My 11 year old really enjoyed it. I loved the appearance of cast members from The Avengers. Don Cheadle was a much better Rhodes than his predeccessor and deserves more visibility. My only complaint was the overabundance of ego-driven rants by the star character. We get that Tony Stark is a self -absorbed narcisist - no need to beat the audience over the head with it every 5 seconds.
This version of Alice in Wonderland was hardly the greatest movie I've ever seen, but it was certainly interesting. The Wonderland characters were a bit over the top even for this story, you could barely understand a work Johnny Depp said, and the character of Alice came off alternately as wimpy and indecisive and a bit dim. Also, what was up with the White Queen and the whole hands in the air thing? Quaint at first, and then just annoying. Still, the animation was spectacular and the story moved along at a decent pace. My 11 year old son loved it.
