I wanted to see this movie the 1st time I saw the commercials for it. Every actor in this movie is amazing, Ellen Page is dynamic as Bliss. Landon Pigg is great to look at. It was just an all around great movie, I don't know why it didn't make much at the box office. Cannot wait til it comes out so I can watch it again and again!

Ellen Page continues to prove that she can pull off any part in this movie about a 17-year old beauty contest scene girl who would rather get dirty with a some roller skates and knee pads. The other actresses in this movie play their parts well and the story flows nicely. My only qualm about this film is that it's just plain fun and not much more. There's no depth to the characters or their struggle here, just teen growth and girls being girls. In the end, it was enough to satisfy me, but not in an inspirational way.

I took my fifteen-year-old daughter to see this. I wasn't sure what to expect but really wanted to spend some time with her and figured this movie would be right up her alley. I am soo glad I did! Not only did she really enjoy the movie and thank me for taking her but I actually enjoyed watching it too!
Great movie that shows the challenges faced by teens and the parents who parent them. Sometimes what you want for your kids isn't exactly what you had hoped for but can surpass any of your wildest dreams!

There are few sports for women once out of college - I appreciate this sport so much. A friend of mine played for Brooklyn Bombshells - and she is super KICK A**. As a fan of both Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore, I enjoyed this movie. Seeing Ellen page as a would-be beauty queen was funny enough, but I laughed out loud quite a bit. There were a few points were the movie slowed down a bit, and there wasn't as much going on. I saw a few families in there, and I wouldn't recommend it for the young ones as there is quite a bit of language in it. Definately has an Indie quality to it...which can be referesing. It doesn't rely on big budget effects. It's not as good as Juno....but I willstill buy it on DVD. Give it 3.5 stars.

This light hearted, yet dark comedy by Drew Barrymore really struck a cord with me. I love roller derby, like when I was a kid, not like the KC version on a flat track,. The dynamics between mom and the lead are heart felt and genuine. The over bearing nature of a "pageant" mom and the forced adherence to the pursuit of a crown gives way to a deeper and more realistic need for each character.
The dad plays a pivotal role without overshadowing the mother/daughter dynamic.
Overall I would recommend this movie to everyone, even if you are not a tattoos loving gothic supporter.

Excellent acting, editing, pacing, dialogue and cinematography make Whip it a film you should see in a theater. Kudos to Drew Barrymore in her directorial debut! Nice work! The key success ingredient here is the cast which is pitch perfect. We see Page, Harden, Wiig, Barrymore and all of the cast in top form. Everyone works in their role and they are all believable. These folks had fun making this move and it shows ....we have fun watching it! The only knock is the predictability of it all and that is probably an unfair criticism considering how well it is put together! See Whip it!

Ellen Page does a great job in this film, and it seems she will get really noticed after it. For being an ex-child star, Drew Barrymore has done very well with herself for an acting career. Now, she pulls off a great movie, not only as an actor(although a minor character), but as director. This movie has a lot of action, as well as heartfelt moments. It is a very empowering film. This is a definite award winning film.

This movie was very enjoyable! I took my teenage daughter and did not expect to like it. It was an excellent movie from beginning to end. Great story, acting - it has it all. GO SEE IT!
