Delightful, laugh out loud funny, a great look at small town life in the South. Living your dream is the theme, for parents and kids alike, and it is a refreshing look at wanting to be all you can be that does not include a fat paycheck. A coming of age movie with an honest happy ending, how cool is that?
Good acting, terrific writing, find your Bliss when you see this movie.
I saw this movie twice, and liked and understood it better the second time. this is realistic, sometimes laughable, mostly intense, about one teacher and a room full of hormone fueled 14 yr olds. As a former teacher I found the give and take, questions, interruptions etc real and quite heartwarming--shows you that no matter where or who, when you are 14--or the teacher of same--we are all overwhelmed by the sheer size of our world and worried that we won't be able to succeed making our way successfully in it.
Great little flick with excellent writing and acting --a scene everyone in the world is famiiar with, (date for New Years Eve) and each searching,/exploratory/ hopeful encounter with one another make the protaganists us, back in the day. A sweet and sly look at the way we were.
