The movie started a little slow, but eventually delivered big time. Who knew a funeral could be so hysterically funny! Definitely a creative twist and concept for a movie. I must say though that I was VERY surprised to not be getting any comedy from Martin & Chris. They were by no means the stars of this film, but I'm sure that was intentional. Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover & Loretta Devine stole the show. I just don't know what's up with Martin & Chris not being funny anymore. I guess they've evolved; errr umm... But the movie is worth it. A great laugh!!

I was expecting a few laughs, but wasn't expecting to laugh until there were tears in my eyes, nor was I expecting my fellow viewers to also laugh so hard and long that we missed several lines.
The ensemble nature of the movie was flawless (I admit, I expected Martin Lawrence to try to hog the spotlight, but he did an awesome job!). It was truly an all-star cast; wonderful to see Ron Glass and hear that gorgeous voice of his. James Marsden TOTALLY surprised me with his comedic timing and physicality. And Chris Rock nailed his role. Always good to sea the talented Zoe Saldana--geez, has this woman had a break in the last two years? She's in three movies now, not counting Star Trek and Avatar! And gorgeous Luke Wilson playing the slimy ex was great.
All in all, a great movie that was way better than I expected. I loved that it wasn't a "black" movie; just a movie where the central family happens to be black.
My one problem was the bathroom scene. Ew. Too much poop humor.
Loved this movie and looking forward to the DVD so I can see what I missed while laughing too hard.

I expected "Death at a Funeral" to be hilarious, after all it is a remake of a British comedy and the previews were really funny. I was extremely disappointed because "Death at a Funeral" is only mildly funny and some of the funny parts were crude to say the least. "Death at a Funeral" is about an African American family who is preparing to lay the husband to rest. As family members arrive for the funeral service, shocking information comes to light as well as some shocking events take place at the memorial service.

I personally thought that it had some slow moments at the beginning of the movie but as it went along I found myself laughing out loud at several scenes. I really enjoyed this movie, not just because it has some funny parts but the story line is interesting and entertaining. The funiest scene is obviously the bathroom scene, which ofcourse is not only unique but unexptected. That kick azz scene truly had the whole theater screaming! I could not wait to see this version. I saw the original British version and fould it to be very entertaining. With the all star cast that was appearing in this new movie, I knew it had to be good. I found it to be quite funny. The only negative thing I would say is some of the excessive profanity was not necessary. Other than that a fun and refreshing movie.

Why was I not impressed? My husband actually fell asleep during the movie and I found myself focusing on my food. I expected more from this spectacular cast. What a disappointment! If you need a break from your serious, hectic, stress filled life, go see Death at a Funeral! This movie will have you smiling and laughing from start to finish. The casting was excellent! The actors worked well together as an ensemble; no one tried to steal the spotlight, and that's what made the movie work so well. It is rated R, so if you're strictly opposed to cursing and some crude humor, it may not be the movie for you. Having said that, I found it rather tame in comparison to other comedies I've seen with that rating. If that doesn't bother you, go for it and don't wait for it to come out on DVD. I laughed each time I saw the commercials for this movie so I figured I should see it. I wasn't expecting anything deep or a great plot...I just wanted a good laugh and that's exactly what I got. I thought the movie was very funny and the cast of characters were just right for their roles. I couldn't stop laughing and it seemed like the others watching the movie in the theatre agreed. It was out loud, knee slapping, fun laughter. If that's what you're looking for, then go see the movie.

My daughter and I laughed throughout the whole movie (she's 10) and I'm Caucasian. It was a great storyline and the humor really worked across racial lines, I think. There were a few white characters in the mix. Everyone was so funny, I'd see it again.

This is the funniest comedy of the year. Anything that you wouldn't expect to happen at a funeral did. Tracy Morgan had me rolling throughout the film. It was just so funny all of the characters held their ground. It's a must see summer film.
