The movie is for tweens and teenagers. The storyline was overly simplistic and lacked the depth and intrigue the cartoon holds. Lines were delivered in stark, monotone, simple sentences to the point of uncomfortablilty. Also, it was troubling trying to figure how the main characters ended up being white in this Asian world/culture, (except for one Firebender).
On the other hand, the movie was visually stunning and the special affects were incredible. The martial art fighting scenes were especially enjoyable. The movie shouldn't be missed on these points alone.
My daughter and I laughed throughout the whole movie (she's 10) and I'm Caucasian. It was a great storyline and the humor really worked across racial lines, I think. There were a few white characters in the mix. Everyone was so funny, I'd see it again.
