I've read all the books and couldn't for the life of me understand why they cast Tom Cruise as Reacher. I know it's all about box office draw, but his diminutive stature was a distraction. Jack Reacher is an intimidating man, Tom Cruise isn't. I thought he added arrogance to the character that the Lee Child didn't find necessary in the books. They had the female characters practically swooning at the sight of him. Come on!
Save your money and read the book. It's a much better use of your time.
Better than I thought it would be since I'm not a fan of reality shows. I took my 13 year old granddaughter and she fell asleep, so I'm not sure what that says about it. Decent entertainment.
This was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Sometimes the previews are misleading and you've heard all the funny lines before you ever see the movie - not so with this one. I laughed all the way through. The three lead actors were perfect in their rolls. Kevin Spacy is an expert at playing psycho, plus Jennifer Anniston and Colin Farrell were excellent. It seemed like all the actors had fun doing the movie. Well worth the money. Be sure to stay for the outtakes at the end.
Funny in spots, most of which could be seen in the previews. It was far more gross than it needed to be. Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel did a pretty good job, Lucy Punch was funny and Justin Timberlake didn't do himself any favors playing his part the way he did. Pass on this one and see Super 8.
NOTE to all parents: Don't take your under 17 year old kids to this movie. There were several kids in our theater and they shouldn't have been there.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides wasn't as good as the first movie, but I'll watch Johnny Depp be Capt. Jack Sparrow any day of the week. I thought Penelope Cruz was fun, too. The stories are getting a little weak, but who cares when JD is the main character.
We skipped 3-D, digital was fine and we had heard bad things about the 3-D version.
"Bridesmaids" hit the mark. If the guys think they're the only ones who can do gross-out comedy, they're sadly mistaken. Everyone in the movie did a great job. Melissa McCarthy proves that she is one of the funniest women in comedy. This movie will keep you rolling the aisles. Kristen Wiig does a great job of showing a wide range of emotions while still being hilarious.
Unfortunately, you miss some of the lines because the audience can't stop laughing.
Kate Hudson did a beautiful job of being the most selfish person in the world. Ginnifer Goodwin played her usual mousy door mat. Colin Egglesfield did a good job being the jerk who wants to play both sides against the middle. It's hard to root for people you really don't care about. Only John Krasinski and Steve Howey played likeable characters. The plot was a little thin and the laughs too few and far between.
"The Conspirator" was beautifully written and acted. Even though I knew how it was going to end, I still had to see it through. There were a few who walked out of the theater, I assume because they felt "the liberals were at it again", but most of us realized that some things never change. All the actors brought to life the "mob mentality" that always surrounds horrendous events like presidential assasinations.
This is an excellent history lesson for all of us. There's something to be said for learning while we're being entertained.
Win Win is just a great movie. A realistic story line and excellent acting make this movie worth seeing. It's a simple story about complex issues that makes you laugh and sometimes hurt for the characters. These people aren't the perfect family, they have their flaws, but you can really care for them and hope everything turns out okay.
"Limitless" is fast paced and fun. There's enough humor to break up the really intense action. The camera work can make you a little motion sick, but the movie is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunately, Robert De Niro's talent is wasted but Bradley Cooper did a fantastic job. Not only is he great just to look at (those blue eyes are incredible), he really did an excellent job of acting in this movie. "Limitless" is well worth the price of admission.
