My son and I enjoyed this movie tremendously. The animation and story come together very nicely, and the voices were a perfect match for the characters. My only complaint was the cost for IMAX 3D - it was almost double the regular price. If this kind of mark up is what is in store for all movies in the future, we'll be going to the movies far less frequently.

Any presentation in 3D IMAX is amazing so I'll just rate the movie. "Dragon" is fun to watch. It's a "feel good" movie with very cute characters and a unique story. Loved the 3D animation, especially the flying sequences. I would bring anyone of any age to see it. And gee, being half-Viking myself, I wish I had a dragon.

Goodness! Pure and simple enjoyment for all ages with this movie. To take a character like Hiccup and place him into the situation he was born into was a pure stroke of genius. Tying all of the nuances of being a Viking into a story line that contains Dragons, while conveying a simple story of communication break down was pure brilliance! This was a great movie! The kid in me says it was the best movie ever... I say it's one of the most fun animated films I've seen in a long time. I love Dragons, but their creative expression of them in this film is just superb, funny, and beautiful.

My husband and I just recently took our kids who are 4 and 2 to see this in Imax 3D and we loved it. Some scenes were a little intense, but the kids loved the action. The only issue we had was the glasses. Someone needs to make kids/toddler size 3d glasses. My son had a hard time keeping them on his face and grew frustrated with them. Other than that, we loved it and are looking forward to more Imax movies.

First, about the movie- the animation and action was really good. However, I was very concerned about the blatant rejection of young Hiccup by his Viking father. Until now, my 6 year old had no idea that some children are not loved or appreciated by their parents. I believed that was an unnecessary part of the plot and made my little thinker have to process more than a kids' movie should have. Hiccup could have been loved and appreciated, but excluded by the other Vikings, but not by his own father! IMO, this film is not appropriate for children under 5 because of the action, but my 6 year old was not scared by it. About the 3D-- it was cool. I do not however know why it's called Imax. Maybe the 3D is done by Imax? This is NOT an Imax theate with the tall seating and surrounding screen. It was just a regular theater with old seats and a normal screen. I might pick regular 3D, but for $13/ticket it should have been more worth that upgrade in price.

I thought that this movie was really great. There elements of many different borrowed stories, ie: Aesop and the Lion and several others with elements of of a few new twists. My only problem was the 3D glasses. I already wear prescription glasses and the 3D ones are uncomfortable and don't work unless you keep your head steady and facing forward at all times. I can't wait for it to come to DVD.

There are three things that stand out about this movie: the 3D, the story, and the animation. I had been disappointed by every 3D movie I'd seen since Avatar and was worried I'd never enjoy another 3D movie again. But my faith has been restored. Also, like Avatar, this one has a great story for both adults and kids. I thought it would be difficult to animate a 3D dragon, but they had no problem with that here. They actually have several different types of dragons. Who knew dragons and Vikings would make a great story?

Making animated movies is more than just computer software, some famous voices and some topical jokes. Dreamworks Animation has been heavy handed in it's production of animated movies in the past but With the directors of "Stitch" - Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders (the info bar for this movie has it wrong) the characters are much more subtley controlled and more expressive. This is important because thankfully, the dragons don't talk. The story is nicely paced and the characters are well rounded. Having this on IMAX 3D makes the flying sequences more majestic but the film would be just as good in 2D. This is one of my favorite movies of the year. Good fun for the whole family.

This was our first Imax experience and we were pretty impressed. THe reviews I read said the movie was appropriate for ages 8 and up and I would sort of agree depending on your 8 year old. It is a very intense movie. Definitely outside of my daughter's comfort zone. The animation was fabulous, good though predictable storyline, entertaining characters that you can relate to. Great for adults as well.

3D Imax is way over-rated and over-priced for this film. It was a decent kids' (and adults') movie but I found myself yawning way too much! Definitely won't see again.

I took my little cousin to see this movie, and he loved it just as much as I did. At first, I thought it would be lame and childish. However, I was totally wrong. It was great!
