Honestly, this is one of the best movies I've seen in quite a while. From the opening credits with the great American landscape shots to the closing song, this is a very well thought-through movie and a very thoughtful one. Usually, my wife and I are the only ones laughing out loud at funny moments, but Up in the Air got the whole crowd going. Great writing, terrific acting, timely story, terrific editing, superb cinematography, and a good soundtrack with some appropriate chestnuts.

Excellent acting and wonderful cinematography in place, but not worth all the hype. There were a few laughs, not tons, and parts of the movie were enjoyable and really well done. But overall, it did not grab me, and either because it was slow or because it was so much about work, I found myself thinking of my to-do list in the middle of the movie. If you like movies for the movie-making, this is excellent. If you like movies for entertainment and escapism, wait till this is on DVD.

Entertaining but certainly not worth all the hype it's been getting. Beginning was very slow and reminded my hubby too much of work (not fun when you are trying to 'escape' the real world!); got better when they introduced the young girl character, Clooney's co-worker. Had some laughs, but this was certainly nothing to write home about. Good acting overall and really liked Vera Farmiga in this. No biggee to wait to see on dvd or skip altogether.

The movie was extremely well-acted, although to me it was Clooney playing Clooney. Best actor award for this???? The rest of the actors were very impressive. My biggest thing was how I was so depressed through the movie after the people started getting fired,especially since I knew they were not actors. Our family has been down this road and it's devastating for a man and his family. I couldn't even concentrate on what else was going on in the movie because it brought back all those feelings. Not a "feel good movie" to me. Wouldn't recommend this movie to someone who has been though this trauma.

It may have been slow, and not a lot happened, but it easily held the interest of my three friends and me. I would not call this movie a comedy. Yes, it has some light moments and maybe a few chuckles, but it's not a comedy. The movie was, though, well written, directed and acted. We got into the story and cared about the characters from the beginning. Ultimately, though, the story-line was depressing and the movie was unsatisfying and without any kind of meaningful resolution. We went looking for a real comedy to watch after we finished watching this movie.

I was expecting a forgettable chick flick, but thiis movie was took a mature look at some seroius subjects. Resisting cliche', the movie surprised me with its honest depiction of how if feels to lose your job. Excellent acting. Well written script. Topical subject. Good work.

I was expecting a much better story-line. It moved so slow, and was so depressing that it should be considered a downer, not an upper. George Clooney did a good job, but there were too many not-real moments to make me like the movie.
