I went expecting great special effects. Nope. Hoped for some decent dialog. Too bad. Was thinking maybe they wouldn't trot out cowboy and Indian cliches. Missed there too. This film missed in every way. Save your money.
A little predictable here and there but "Up in the Air" is a movie with dialog and story telling and no special effects and it managed to keep me interested and involved throughout. It was the best movie I saw this holiday season.
Almost boring. Promises so much more than it delivers. You root more for Marcos and his quest for humanity than John Connor who is already human (sort of), mostly because he is played by the always wooden Christian Bale, but also because he is more a narcissist than someone with a deep love for his kind. See Star Trek first, and if this is still around and you can't get tickets to Transformers or GI Joe and you really want to see stuff blow up, OK. But if you're interested in that whole man vs the system thing, perhaps surrogate might be better. Perhaps they will stop at T4, I certainly have had enough.
Heath Ledger was outstanding. So was Gary Oldman. Christian Bale is certainly the best of the Bat men. Loved the cycle, it does some really cool moves. I also loved the bat computer. A little too long and a little too preachy, but overall, the best of the Bat Man franchise so far. I'd love to see a third. They have really stepped it up a notch with the villains, the darkness, Lusius Fox and Michael Cain is even a surprising step up in Alfred. What they need though is an editor. The film dragged a little at times because they spent so much time setting up and working out all the plot twists and turns. About 1 too many jeopardy scenes. No problem with killing off a heroin or multiple villains, but one less major jeopardy would have made it tighter.
